I have a new PM2 in brown G10, S35VN, DLC, black hardware. I like it and have had it for about a month maybe. I have had issues with a PM2 before that really turned me off of the knife. It was mostly related to blade play. So, I periodically test for play very lightly. Well, up until a day or two ago (the last time I tested it) it had no play. I test it tonight and sure enough, there’s vertical play. I have rotated the stop pin, tightened the screws, etc. It’s not lock related as I feel no flex or movement on the lock when testing for play. It’s not a lot of play but it’s certainly noticeable when checking for it. Am I being too picky? I’m really bummed out. This is the second one I’ve had and the second issue I’ve had with play. Should I send it in for warranty work or just get over it? Thanks guys.

I cant imagine how you'd develop blade play if there wasn't any with general use over a couple of days.

I have 4 different PM2 examples. All of them have a bit of play, but have not had any issue when using them.

I think it may be just kind of inherent in the lock design. There has to be a little bit of clearance for the lockbar to move in and out of the blade groove.

I could be wrong though....

Oh, I used the knife. Just some box cutting and to cut twine though. Nothing hard-use. I opened a box or two yesterday and over the course of a few weeks, I used it to cut open some bags of onions. I’ve actually been babying it and using my military for most things as I keep that in my back pocket. But the use has been extremely mild.

I have managed to finesse the play. I am not sure how I did it. I loosened the screw furthest from the pivot then retightened. It seems to have worked. I think I may be a little over-picky at this point. I have done Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for several years now and the result is an incredibly strong grip and strong forearms. I think I may just be forcing my knives to play then I am tilting and windmills of my own creation. I love this knife and it was a gift from my parents, so I just want things to be perfect on it since it has some sentimental value. I was actually more disturbed by the play in this PM2 than I was when I found it in my XM. So far my two Military specimens have never so much as wiggled.
