Hey guys,
So I'm the type of guy who likes to know everything about everything, (pretty annoying), so on that note I tried to do some research on the difference of these two paramilitary 2's. They are both all blacked out (Black Blade, G10, and hardware) but for some reason the lanyard tube/hole is black on one and satin on the other. To my knowledge there are more satin ones out there, but I just want to know. Is it just a difference in production runs? Could the black lanyard be a clone? I don't think it is but anyways any information would be greatly appreciated.
thanks for the time guys,
jon

Same size? I can't tell. Also, it looks like the black one is not flared. Should be Black blade=black lanyard tube. You could have a franken knife too

WARNING! A non-chamfered lanyard tube is one of the telltale signs of a FAKE!

BTW, both of my blacked-out PM2s (same mfg year) have satin chamfered lanyard tubes.

I got it from off of the forums, should I be concerned as this could be a counterfeit?

both tubes them selves are black but it is the sides of them, if you look in the picture one is black and the other is silver, and I know for a fact the silver one is good to go because I bought it new from cutleryshoppe and the other one with the black side is from a member, I didn't think it was a clone untill TravisH suggested it i was just curious to why they are different, but now I am concerned.

There's the Fake thread sticky at the top of this forum.

There are several 'How to spot a fake PM2' vids on Youtube.

Compare lanyard tubes. Fake won't be chamfered.
Compare the jimping. Fake will be straight up, Real slant slightly to rear.
Compare the compression lock areas. Fake will have sharp corners.
Compare the texture of the G10.
Look for the notches in the liners. Fake won't have them.

The chamfer is from assembling the knife with a straight tube and then using a flaring cone to let the tube act as a rigid structural piece. It's a design feature and if you tried to completely disassemble the real one, you would have to fight that laynard tube out. Don't do that, it's a pain to get back together. I would imagine if you have a fake and took it apart that tube would just fall out. But if the tube that is not flared is not flush with the scales, i would say it's real and that step was missed in the manufacturing process. Keep in mind not all Spydies have this design. Many Taichung Spydies have a lose shouldered tube that does not get flared.

him, really never noticed before!but on my regular PM2/black and satin blade the inside of the lanyard tube is black, but its chamfered,if this helps.
