So I have my para 2 and its great, but I want to get your opinion. I work around water (Fresh) and play in salt water. Will my para 2 with s30v hold up to being wet (will the blade rust, will the locking system rust) or should I just get a salt series knife and not worry? Thanks

Since you already have the P2, why not try it out and see? It is trivial to get rust off if it does happen.

I have both. I live on the coast of BC (which is never dry) and I have not had an issue with S30V. (You can actually see rust forming on 1095 here. An Izula left out over night will be a knife shaped brown spot in the morning). The H1 knives like the Pacific Salt are not as high quality as a Para but still a very nice knife. They are affordable enough to have on hand to rotate into your pocket if you're heading for a day on the water. They are also very light for a knife that size. Something else in its favor if you are active and wearing minimal clothing. I guess I didn't answer you question definitively but I'll say H1 steel simply does not rust.

Salt water and not rusting is sort of the point of H-1.
If you can afford it and one of the H-1 knives appeals to you, why not?

Para2 is a great general use knife and will probably hold up quite well with a little care, but if its going to worry you or you're a little lazy about maintenance, a nice SE H-1 would be a great addition for a salt water utility knife.

The PM2 will probably be fine with maintenance, but I'd just get a Salt, that way you don't have to worry about it, and if you accidentally drop it in the water, it's half the price to replace.

Hello,

What about Mission titanium knives? I have dove in fresh and salt no issues. They hold an edge great with punishment I carry the folder as my EDC.

Good luck

I have used my s30v military in salt plenty of times, even wading in shorts. Never had any problems with rusting.

I would not worry about it.
