Para 2 question

Alright, you enablers have got me looking at the Paramilitary 2 for Christmas (if funds improve way earlier)!

My only question/ concern is the location of the compression lock, does it rub or blister your hand with prolonged use?

I have never had a problem with day to day edc use or making shavings and feather sticks while camping. However, I usually hold it with my thumb on the jimping so my palm isn't digging into the lock lever.

I have not really spent a whole day whittling with it, but I imagine most folding knives could cause hot spots with that type of extended use.

If I was going to have to carve something for hours on end, I would likely grab a fixed blade with a nice smooth rounded handle.

I haven't put mine through hard use, but it hasn't been a problem. I love it, and even when I try to convince myself to carry something else for the day I always end up with the para at the last minute :)

Shouldn't. My thumb is well ahead of the lock tab up on the jimping.

Might depend somewhat on hand size. I've used mine some but not really a whole day's cutting.

I was whittling with mine yesterday and the lock didn't so much dig into my hand as my hand dug into the lock. That was only when my thumb was off the jimping curled around the handle and it wasn't particularly uncomfortable, my hand dug in just enough for me to notice it.

A couple of variables:

How tough are your hands?

How many times will you actually disengage the lock during a normal day?

I think you are overthinking it Bro - no offense

Thanks guys! Singularity, thanks for the pic.
That's my concern, when you're using a regular
grip (without your thumb on the spine).

There's a slight bit of contact with either the liner or the lock tab if I grip really hard(hammer grip). I can imagine that this might become a hot spot with a lot of hard cutting. I must say though that I've cut a fair bit of cardboard( the kind auto parts come in) and kinda thick plastic sheeting since I started hanging out at an auto repair shop, and I haven't really noticed the contact to become a hot spot. Cutting wood might be a bit different since you might have to grip it hard and exert some force at the handle.

Nope it hasn't been a problem.

No problems whatsoever with the location of the compression lock. The only problem I have with the knife is that prolonged use of the Paramilitary 2 leads to prolonged use of the Paramilitary 2. It is hard to put down and not pick it up every morning when walking out the door.

Yeah I already see that problem arising just looking at it!

I don't have much experience with my first Para2 (only have had it for a day) but I have already gotten used to the lock. I also feel it is pretty broken in already and I don't have a blister nor sore fingers, I love everything about it.

I always post this pic with the slightest excuse. Or no excuse at all. ;)

This pic even tortures me... I passed up getting the sprint CTS-20CP knife because I didn't know anything about the steel. After reading in JAnkerson's tests that it is as good or better than S90V I'm kicking myself. Haha.

Beautiful knife. I sure won't be letting any M390 sprints past me if I see them for sale up here in Canada.
