Is a sticky lock on a Para 2 a QC issue? In other words can I send it to Spyderco to have them fix it?

I doubt it unless is very severe. Best to call and ask.

I sent back my blue pm2... waited 3 weeks... yes the blade was a lot smoother to open and close.. but the lock wasnt any better... and seemed after time it got worse.... theres a lot of 'fixes' out there that people have found but you have to test which one works best for your knife... i don't recommend the graphite technique cause it seemed like it made the lock bar go even further to the right... for me i tried all the methods and none worked except for the one that possibly voids your warranty (and I'm not recommending or suggesting you to do so as it possibly voids warranty)

My Para 2 has been sticky since day one. It was really bad at first, but has since gotten better. It still sticks pretty badly when compared to others I have seen.

Edited to add: I have already disassembled and lapped all contact surfaces with 3200 grit sandpaper. It's still the exact same.

I just used mine like many liner and framelocks and after a while (2-3 weeks, maybe longer) I think of them like boots that need to be walked in at the beginning.

Keep opening and closing , its needs time to bed in. Mine was a little sticky to start with, but now Fantastic.

I have quite a few Para 2s, while most are still in the box, I don't think any of them stick. Not sure how common it is but I'm sure you hear a lot more about the bad than the good.

I would wash it good to get rid of any oil and just use it for a good month. Oil and other lubricants will just make break in take longer.

i noticed my stop pin screws were getting looser and looser as i kept on opening and closing it.. just an FYI

My Para2 has always been a little sticky. I'm more concerned with the blade play even when the pivot is tight. I'm thinking about taking it apart and doing a little sanding to see if I can close the gaps with the bushing.

No. A very high percentage of compression locks are somewhat "sticky."

Why would they NOT fix it...if it ain't right why should he be fine with the way it is?
It's only right that they do fix it...if he ain't happy. Or if they can't "fix" it do right by him and send him a new one!

Well if you look at other threads people haven't really had luck with them answering phone calls.. because i believe one person handles the emails and calls.. (Charlynn) And i believe theres still a 3 week turn around time...

I said that because a break in period is normal for a comp lock same as a liner or frame lock.Hence why I used the term severe.

+1. I've got "quite a few" Paras as well. NONE of them have ever had a problem with a sticky lock. I'm not downplaying this issue - I just agree with FlaMtnBkr that we hear a lot more about the sticky ones than the good ones on the forum here...

As long as it's not just plain "stuck" as opposed to somewhat sticky, there's nothing to fix.

Between my older son and I, we're probably somewhere between a dozen and a dozen and a half, mostly Para2s but some first gen Paras also. At a guess, and it's important to understand why this is a guess, somewhere around a third of them are somewhat sticky. The reason it's a guess is that although it can be noticed, in real life, it's just not a problem at all. I'll add that I don't think it's a break-in issue, either. One of my S90V Para2s has a jillion open/close cycles and still has some stickiness.

My pm2 I just received today is not stick at all, in fact its perfect in that regard.

I'd send mine back too if it was really sticky. For the price it's unacceptable.
