I'm trying to get titanium standoffs, pocket clip and maybe screws. I'm already aware lynch clips are a pain to get a hold of.ive got my eye out for a full size handwash and Ive found some blue titanium standoffs from mxg but they say they're for the original military. Will they work? I've always just had para 2's.

The pre-2017 Military has T6 scale screws, PM2 has T8. Besides Flytanium, you can (a) buy Ti standoff/screw kits (and scales) from bladeswelove and (b) blue Aluminum backspacers from caveman (svr@ebay), which eliminate the standoff alltogether.

Well I ended up going with an MXG clip. I found the titanium spacers and screws I wanted from xxxadrenalinexxx on ebay. Got me thinking though, the stop pin is included in the kit, isn't titanium a bad idea in that application? Seems like it would just peen/dent real quick unless I open it at the speed of smell. Am I wrong? Might just use the whole kit but keep the factory stop.

I wouldn't use a Ti stop pin or pivot, in particular with a high HRC PM2 blade. Ti HRC is in the lower 50s, compared to - say - >= 67 for a Maxamet blade. Then again, my knives are probably all over-engineered :) Also note that the anodized color will disappear quickly where the blade contacts the pin.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm not worried about the middle standoff really and the kit utilizes that factory pivot still. This knife is a casual carry but I dont want something inherently weak for a stop pin. The blade is S110V so I dont know the exact hardness spyderco uses, probably 60-64ish maybe. Either way, much harder than titanium.

A friend found them thru keyword search <c81 titanium> or <c81 clip> on Aliexpress. The AX abundance of the latter leads me to believe that 99.6% of all pm2 ti clips produced are actually manufactured in the chinas and not anywhere else.

His stuff is good quality, I have it on my para 3. However I swapped the stop pin back to the steel one, the ti one wears quickly and causes lock stick badly. Looks awesome, and as I said great quality, but ti is just not a good material for the stop pin.

I knew it, but decided to try anyway!

Good to hear. Probably a couple weeks to get here from australia but sounds like itll be worth it. And yeah, lots of titanium products come from china unfortunately but it is what it is. I prefer american made but the market for this stuff isn't the largest.

Adrain who is xxxadrenalinexxx has the best hand made Ti hardware out there. I have an unfortold fortune in his stuff and he sends me his rejects to fix and anodize for my own projects. I agree that Ti isn’t great for stop pin material but as to the issues regarding his pins and lock stick, if you know what you’re doing and how to tune the stick out, you can make his stuff run as smooth as the factory parts. And I’m speaking of this out of expirence. All it takes is the right mind and patience. It’s all about making 2 pieces that, hypothetically weren’t made to work together in the factory production sense, come together and function flawlessly. That’s the point where you bridge the gap between production folders and custom/production folders. The parts may not work together at first but it’s how you fit them that ends up determining how the knife functions.

Oh and it usually takes about 2 weeks for his stuff to get to the states. He’s the only one that has the majority of the Ti stuff for knives that people are wanting I.e. ZT 562,393,450,etc factory looking pivots along with spyderco stuff too and it’s all handmade one piece at a time by his buddy in Aussie-land.

Hard to find para 3 hardware, at least it was for me. He had it ready to go. And inexpensive. Had a clip screw head break off, and we got it figured out and he sent a set of his older clip screws.

As for the ti stop pin, it worked fine at first. But it being ti and the lockbar being steel, the stop pin has lost 50% of its anodizing from the friction, and I'm sure has gotten slightly less in diameter as well, hence the stick (lock bar travels too far). Rotating it would fix the problem but the same will happen later.

Love the looks of the ti stop pin, but in real world use its not a good choice imo.

I will be having some pm2 and pm3 clips hitting the market within the next month or so fyi

I've got a blurple titanium stop pin for my pm2, took it out right away because it made the lock too sticky for my taste. The anodizing wore off quick too, which led me to believe it's not as tough as the stock steel pin.
