OK. I'm walking into the lion's den and staking claim to some ground. I just can't do it. I've been eyeballing the para2 for quite some time and I just can't hit the button to buy the para2. As much as I've tried to talk myself into buying this knife I just can't talk my eyes into hitting the confirm button to buy it. There's something about the handle to blade ratio and the overall grip pattern that's bugging me. I'm glad that Sal & team has committed to improving the lock-up mechanism and the hardware on this knife. But, I'm going to hold out for a different brand. I like the Vallotton's rounded grip and the angle much better than the para or military patterns. That's all I have to say. Thrashers welcome. Please talk me into this knife pattern...

It seems like most knife collectors have knives like that, haha.

I get about one click away from ordering a Case swayback jack, but just can't friggin' go through with it. No matter how many reviews or gorgeous pics I see of the thing, I still just can't seem to buy one.

I guess if you don't end up wanting to buy one, it's no great loss. Better to steer clear of a design you're not sure of than end up buying it and find out you don't like it.

Don't worry you're not in the lions den.The para2 sells faster than they can make them.If it don't float you're boat,that's OK.:thumbup::)

Not every design can be for everyone. While many love the Para2, you may not. If it doesn't seem to scream, "buy me" then don't buy it. I have one and I like it. It's not even close to my favorite Spyderco but I don't regret getting it.
My taste seem to veer more toward the Delica 4. It just fits my hand like it was made for it. So to each their own. Don't feel bad for not liking a knife that so many others seem to like. Buy and use what YOU want. That's all that matters in the end is that you're happy with what you carry and use.

I am confused about your handle to blade ratio dilemma. The handle is the same size as the Endura and more ergonomically shaped. I think it is perfect for my small-medium hands. The blade is slightly shorter and has a nice curved belly. Once you get used to the para 2, it seems like a more natural cutting design. In comparison, the endura's more straight conventional shape seems more ackward and more of a thrusting design than a cutting design. I would say it is like comparing the Pardue Griptilians to the more expensive Benchmade models. It looks unconventional, takes some getting used to, but they are both top-notch user knives at their price point and beyond.

Don't feel bad, wardleather. I can't pull the trigger on one either. I have 4 original Para-Militaries that don't get used because I prefer the blade length and ergos of the Military better. I have no doubt that the Para2 is a fine knife - for someone else. :uncomfortableness:

Thanks for the replies. I even talked to my friend "jack" about it last night and came to the final conclusion it's not for me and I'm ok with that. (it's amazing the kind of hell we put ourselves through).

...I'll probably see one at a gun show this month and fall in love with it.

I really like my Para but LOVE my Native, its just a matter of personal taste

It's all fine...there's a reason that Spyderco makes so many different knives, and a reason that there are so many knife companies.

I have one but I'm not crazy about it. Glad I have it but wouldn't miss it if it was gone..

Different strokes and all. That said, the Para 2 is about as close to perfect as a knife can get for EDC for me. I'd say hold one if you can and decide afterwards.

Have One - I Didn't Think I Would Like It. It Never REALLY Appealed To Me. So I Never Bought One.
Got Offered One In A Trade.. And Decided To Take It Over The Blue CTS-BD1 Manix 2. I Had Owned 3 Manix 2's And Loved Them But Wanted To Try Something Different.

I Got The Knife And Fell In Love With It. And Even Fell Deeper And Deeper In Love The More I Carried It And Held It And Used It Lol. I Wish I Would Have Bought It Sooner.

I Love It So Much, I Have Another One On The Way From Another Trade. Will I Keep The Second One? I'm Not Sure. I May Trade It For A Different Spydie.

Will I End Up EDCing It As Much As I Do When I Get My Spyderco Chokwe? Maybe Not. But Right Now, I Haven't Found A Knife That Kicks It Out Of The Pocket. Although My All Black Manix 2 Is A Close Second As My Favorite Knife. But I Just Fell In Love With The Chokwe, So We Will See Once I Get It.

Who Knows? Maybe Once You Handle a Para2, You'll Love It.

I really like the para2, but i would have to say im in love with the sage 1, caly 3, delica4 and endura4. why does there have to be so many spyderco knives i want... its overwhelming

Paramilitary 2 is 100% function. I can hold the knife without gripping because of the blade shape. It naturally fits in my hand and doesnt create hotspots if I over use. The blade size is perfect because you can fully control every aspect of it with the handle without feeling like its too distant. It is a great design, very versatile, durable, and has survive the test of living with me without breaking lol. Hell yesterday I used it as a hammer and you can't tell. (sorry sal and spyderco ppl, but the handle is strong enough to take it without showing signs so I sometimes use it like that)

I've felt the same way but because of how many fans the knife has I am considering buying one to try out. They are extremely hard to find at a good price though so that will hold me back some. Also it seems to have a strange lock. I have a certain way to use liner locks and axis locks but it seems that people with P2's operate them differently.

I took a trip with a buddy of mine to Fin Feather & Fur in Ashland, OH (like a small Cabelas but with good prices, for folks who aren't brave enough to live in Northern Ohio :) ) and walked out with a new Sig P226. So, I'll have to save up a bit before I can make another toy purchase. It looks like my problem worked itself out...for now.

As the old saying goes, I'm going to let it free and if it comes back to me then it's meant to be.

Well, I guess I am brave enough. I live in Ashland. Do you live in Ohio?

My thoughts exactly. Handle's a little too large for the blade size and generally too big for comfortable EDC. Like it, don't love it. The Caly 3.5 on the other hand...
