Para 3 Blade Play Question

I recently purchased a new Para 3. I noticed that before the blade is locked in place, there is a little bit of wiggle from the tip to the bottom of the blade. There is no side to side wiggle though. When people talk of blade play, are they referring to the side to side movement? Is the forward and back movement before lockup normal? My PM2 doesn’t have this movement. I’m attaching photos to illustrate what I mean.

When people talk about blade play, they are most often referring to the blade movement under pressure when it is in the locked position. Personally, as long as there is no blade play in locked position, it is all good.

I've owned a couple of knives that wiggled/wobbled a bit between closed and locked up, but both locked up securely with no play. I figured that was the important part and didn't worry about the pre-lockup wobble.

But I've never encountered a knife that wiggled back and forth in the direction you're describing while it was partially open. That almost sounds like the pivot hole in the blade might not be a perfect fit for the pivot, but I don't know.

Blade play only refers to movement in the LOCKED position. Most blades will waver in the unlock position.
