Just grabbed one from BHQ not a bad price...First s90v been looking forward to this drop

I can't believe they still have them in stock. maybe the smaller knife is keeping folks from the typical feeding frenzy of CF and s90v.

I’m not a Para 3 guy but still find it curious why so little (perceived) interest in this actual Sprint Run. There are still some out there at $192. Has the S90/CF combo become boring? Is it the higher price? If it’s not M390/M4 does it not create excitement?

I've had the pre-order in for a while, it's on the way down under now.
I handled a Para3 a friend got. Nice, but not something I want more than one of. So might as well make it a good one.
CF/S90V still does it for me.

For me it is the size coupled with the price. Adding $8 can get me a cf/ti s90 military, which is what I just did. In the worst case, I can use and abuse and sharpen my millie 1000 times to make it the size of a para 3:p

Or for a little more you can get the Native 5 with fluted carbon fiber...

One of my favorite purchases of last year.

I was tempted to get the Para 3, but price combined with other knives I want more has me passing.

That's alot of money for a 3" folder. I think that ever since collectors realized that M390 and it's counterparts are such fantastic steel it's hard to justify spending that much money S90 & S110.
They are both very difficult knives to sharpen. I have both and I strop them regularly but when they finally get dull I send them out. I have no desire to spend that much time sharpening.

My S90V Para 3 arrived yesterday. It is my first Para. Not sure if I will keep it. I really like the size for edc and I like the overall look. However, the choice of clip and large lanyard hole are ridiculous aesthetic choices. IMO the Paras should not have a lanyard hole at all and there are better functional clip choices for this knife.

I immediately removed the clip on my Para 3 Cruwear, it is now is carried in a Victorinox soft nylon belt pouch.
Very improved in hand comfort and has become a favorite EDC.

Regards,
FK

I dislike Spyderco's peel ply carbon fiber immensely...I owned a great knife that I hated because of it (Manix 2XL, S90V). Since selling it, I have only purchased one knife with that material... and I had the replacement scales ordered before I purchased it.

I agree FK, it is more comfortable in hand without the pocket clip. It also rides nicely in the pocket without it. I'm just puzzled it didn't dawn on someone at Spyderco that they clearly could have made a better clip choice and without the lanyard hole have better placement.

Interesting. Do you mind sharing more your thoughts on the peel ply cf scales? I actually like them.

The clip placement is considerably better for tip down carry. Tip up has the ridiculously large and precariously placed lanyard tube pushing the clip so low that IMO an unacceptably large percentage of the knife sticks out of my pocket. I carry both tip up and tip down depending on what I'm wearing/which pocket I want to put my knife in so it's not a deal breaker.

I think a Para 4 may be in order with a smaller lanyard hole, more blade height, a superior tip up clip and a broader handle like the Foundry. So yeah, make it more like the criminally underrated Foundry with the same handle and blade shape of the Para 3 and even lower profile in the pocket.

Yes! Thank you for the comparison. And now, due to your post, I'm looking at the Foundry too....o_O
