a kinda worth while set of photo's depicting an extended turks head knot, possibly the most secure knife handle wrap you can do with just paracord and no aditional adhesives. if you do it tight, the knot is backed up and kept in place by each section above below and side to side. the basic idea is that you start at the top, spirale to the bottom, make a peak and then spiral back up. when you get to the top, make another peak right next to the one at the top and spiral back down. do the same on the bottom, and then on the way back up, weave through whats already there, making sure that everything you do is consistent from line to line, and all the top and bottom peaks are the same left to right.
then tighten it up and finish it off by either burning the paracord in place, sewing it or putting a bit of glue on it. mind you, it is very very easy to mess up once, and then have to undo the entire weave pattern wich can take hours.
another option is just doing a simple but easy wood and nail pin handle. an excellent source of hardwood:

I'm a big fan of purple heart. the hardmaple supply there is fairly cheap and high quality. one of these days when i have money I'm going to get a few larger peices of katalox, just to see how much denser in the hand it actually feels.
