Please... C'mon Sal, we know you need a new project.

Love everything about the Manix, except the size. Seems like they really have a winner in terms of the conception, it's very well thought out. But it's too big for any number of things.

Would anyone else fight for a place in line for a 2/3 scale Manix?

Lil Temperence.

Edit to say that size is about right for a 2/3 Manix, but of course they style is different.

I would agree. The para military is much more useful for a number of tasks IMO than it's larger big brother. I would think it would be the perfect knife to have a 2/3 the size para manix. How about making a 'Manix 2' w/ ZDP189 blade steel?

Is it just me, but if you compare the two, doesn't the Calypso Jr look like a mini-Manix?

Mark

I believe so. I really find the CJ to be a great knife but wish at times there was an inbetween. It could be a tad larger. Between the Endura and the Delica and still be very 'accepted' in public.

rumors from respected sources -- of a "smaller manix" in the works, I presume???? That would be an immediate buy item! :D

I'm seriously intent on buying a Manix very soon. What types of jobs do you folks think it is too big for? All the feedback I've read about it says it is one of the best big folders to come along. Now here is this thread saying it is too big and needs to be smaller. Expound...

I had a Manix for about three days total before selling it. I really liked it but realized it wasn't going to get used as much as I initially thought it was. Yes, I am eating crow on that one. I said some marvelous things about it right after getting it. But I find the Manix was just too large in the pocket, and the clip bit into my hand in the tip up configuration so I sold it. It is a beasty though.

I did love the blade. And honestly I was torn about selling it until the day it went in the mail. Then I had to let it go. I like the Para-Military that came from newgraham today. I had to make a tip up pocket clip and mount it to my liking but other than that the PM is basically a smaller Manix with a different lock. Just my observations after playing with the knife.

Eric has designed a Manix with an 80mm (3.15") blade.

We'll have a proto at the Blade show.

--------------------------------------------------

The entire "business chain" from; raw materials, manufacturing, marketing, selling, distributing, shipping, warrantees, insurance, credit, etc. ALL EXISTS to service the ELU (End Line User). Remove the ELU from the equation and the entire business chain falls like a house of cards. We all work for you!

Sal,
Thanks for this information. Any chance you could let us know a little more for those who are not lucky enough to get to the Blade Show?...like blade thickness? I'm hoping the little guy was designed with the same 4mm blade thickness,...any hints?

Thanks,
Randy

Bullwhip- I didn't intend to imply that the Manix is too big for any specific task, or in general. It's just a very big, heavy knife. My concern is with carrying it more than anything, so for that I'd like to have the heavy duty construction and S30V in a smaller package. Something substantial to give my BM Ares in 154CM a run for it's money.

Fantastic Sal, can't wait to get my hands on one!

Sal, that's wonderful news! I'll buy one (or two) as soon as they're available!

Thanks Sal. Just what I need. And yeat another one goes on the want list. Can't wait to tell the wife. She told me she hopes I enjoy sleeping with all these knives I'm buying.
