Ok, so I got the pass around ara and I really like the knife. Great size, very robust while remainng highly carriable. My one issue is the open top of the knife. It seems like everytime I reach down towards my right pocket either to get something out or to retrieve the knife I encounter sharp edges on the pivot end of the closed blade. The open construction makes the knife easy to clean but it leaves some rather abrasive metal very open and easily contacted by the hand. I am fairly certain this isn't a danger but I have found it to be annoying and effecting my decision to carry the para or not.
Anyone else find this obnoxious?

Sam,
I agree. I just posted my review in the passaround section, and Neetones also touched on this in his review. Ifeel it should be tip up, solving the problem altogether.

Thanx for the info edgetrip, I'll look into it.

Regarding the clip mount, I think 4 way is the way, though some don't like the "look" of the empty holes. (Stretch & Manix)

We weren't pleased with any of the 4 way clips we'd done and it came time to shoot the designer and the engineer and bring the model to market. It had taken much longer to develop than planned.

I think the next refinements will pick up all of the knit-knats. Getting input from ELUs is the best input.

thanx agaain,

sal

Gotta love the fact that Sal is paying attention and based on his record will actually act to make improvements based on feedback.
Thanks Sal, sure you wil find a workable solution.

I also found the sharp tang edges annoying. I "softened" mine slightly with my grey Sharpmaker stones.

It's especially disappointing given how elegantly the Military blade incorporates in the closed position.

It would go close to the perfect EDC if it wasn't for this carry issue. I love using this knife but hate carrying it. Tis a shame that such a good knife lives in my drawer.

The only problem I have with it is that I have straightened the pocket about 10 times since I got it a few months ago(user stupidity). Otherwise it is a handy, functional, durable, comfortable knife. Good job Sal.

Hey Edgetrip.

You are talking about the spine of the blade at the back, behind the hole, just above where the blade tang hits the stop pin? or the serrations behind the hole?

On the "open" back" the metal you are referring to is the lock release?

TIA

sal

Sal, the sharp squared off edge left side of the blade were it meets the G10 slab as shown by the picture is what grabs my hand whenever its in the vicinity.

The bottom edge of the blade which extends from the scales when the knife is closed. This edge could possibly be radiused or as someone else mentioned the knife could simply be set up for tip up carry.

thanks for your interest Sal.

Sam

I'd personally consider a redesign a better option than making it tip-up. Tip-down, the Para's perfect for Spyder-dropping.
