Lately I have been thinking about getting a para-military 1 to hold my over till the 2 is more readily available. So Im asking you all if I should grab one or hold off for a 2, any input would be great.

Thank all

I'd probably hold out for a two. They both have features I like, but I think the handle is a bit more ergonomic for a wide range of hands on the PM2, as well as having more blade.

PM1 definitely isn't bad, though.

Or just get a Military :p

I like the military but its much larger then I like to carry thats why im stuck between the para-military 1 and 2 :)

I think im going to pick up a para 1 since I found some available just want some thought on the s30v with black G10 or the D2 sprint with foliage green G10.

If you have big hands like I do, the handle is going to be too small for your hand without using the choil to hold the knife. I bought a Para 1 a few years ago when

Spyderco was selling the cpm d2 with foliage green scales for $100. I modded the scale with my Dremel 10 minutes after I got the knife so the handle would fit

my hand. I also forced a patina on the d2 blade.

I traded it and another smaller Spydie for an orange Miliie.

Just went through this same dilemma, I've actually owned both in the past, ended up getting a Military and haven't looked back. It's so light I don't even notice it.

I like the Para 1 as much as the Para 2. The Para 1 is just a little bit smaller, but functionally they are pretty much the same.

I owned a few different PM1's and had a love/hate relationship due to the grip until I finally concluded that the big choil is there to be used. I ended up with the FG D2 version and rotate it and a Native (another big choil) for EDC. I'll eventually try a PM2 after the tumult and shouting die down and the dealers find themselves overstocked and giving them away the way they did the FGD2.

Yeah i dont have big hands by any means so i think the PM1 with D2 will hold me over till the supply/demand evens out so i can get a PM2 thanks for the input everyone much appreciated :)

I own both, and actually hesitated to get the PM 2 since my PM 1 worked just fine and I didn't like the changes made to other Spderco knives in their second versions (for instance, the Manix 2). But I'm glad I bought it. This time they really nailed it and the changes make a positive difference in use and carry. I would wait until you can find a PM 2, or just buy something totally different in the meantime.

thanks for the correction. was thinking this was a military vrs para discussion my bad.

No biggie, I was only aware of the Paramilitary and the Military until a little while ago myself-- had no idea there was a PM1 and PM2.
