As the bidding climbs higher on the knife at what point is the steel and the carbon fiber just not worth it for an everyday carry? I've heard people say it's all about what it's worth to you but I think there is a limit before that just becomes silly.

Getting close to the 300 mark I'm sure there is alot of other knives that could be bought for that kind of cash. What are some opinions on when too much is just too much and a good alternative?

Well the other knives that you buy for 300 wont have s90v and carbon fiber most likely. I think that just because this is a production knife doesn't mean that it doesnt warrant a high dollar price tag. At the original 190 it sold for it was a steel. I think 300 is right at about what this knife is worth. That is just my opinion though. I have one and I love every second of it. Feels nice not having to sharpen a blade for a good month of use.

My opinion - paying at or around MSRP (rather than discounted street price) is OK. MSRP on this one was $290.

At $125 or so for a regular Para 2, you have to ask yourself if the CF Para 2 is 3 times as good as the regular model.

i think it is!

the para2 in cf/s90v is just bad ass knife...it stays in my pocket until its replaced with a millie or another para 2!

the fact that s90v is hard to come by in the knife world, it's hard to find an alternative (especially in the sub $300 range). personally, north of $250 starts turning me off.

I won't be carrying mine as they are hard to find and I paid too much for it. I bought it as more of a collector. On the other hand I would like to see a production knife with S90v that I can beat on.

i agree

S90V vs. S30V might well be worth 3x the price. You may or may not agree, but it's a reasonable conclusion to reach.

Luckily I was able to pick up one of them for 200. So to me it was a steal. Ive made it a user and the edge is still hair popping. Wanting to keep it in prestine condition, ive replaced it with a regular black blade para 2 which I got for 105. To be honest, because times are tough I would have trouble paying 290 and above, but if I had the money with no worries? Is easily drop it.

I got two and both are users. I gave one to my brother for his 30th birthday. He loves the S90V! I paid $187.50 for one of them and $245.00 for the other. Well worth it!

Why do you say that?

Because S90V is just about as good as it gets for knives and Spyderco has a track record of getting just about everything possible, in a production context, out of this steel. Look here for starters. S30V is really good, no question. S90V is outstanding.

Well, I thought $300 was more than the knife was worth and got ready to sell mine... until I tried to buy another knife with s90v. If you want the steel, you have to pay for it. I'll keep mine, thank you very much. After all, $300 seems to be a fair price for a folder of the quality of the Para 2 with these particular materials.

Great steel for sure but if it sits in the safe it might as well be of garden variety. Gotta use 'em for them to perform.

yup, i got into spyderco alittle over 2 weeks ago and i pulled the trigger on one of these way to early. I traded it to someone who could appreciate the steel more.

I got a S90V Paramillie 2.
The ultra clever folding mechanism and great ergos is improved by a legendary CPM420V (S90V) blade heat treated perfectly.
Mine only knows stropping for two weeks and is a razor.
The handle are tanks made of feather.
Light solid incredibly resilient. This Sprintrun worst every penny.
I'm biase as this one is my holy folding grail ! And I got a lot from Sebbie to customs !

I have one, and love it. I have carried it a lot, and it's light, keeps a great edge, and is crafted very well. I liked it so much, I bought a second one (for slightly under MSRP), and plan to put it up in the exchange shortly as I just picked up an XM-18, and it drained my knife fund.

I surmise that you are looking at evilbay from your comment on 'bidding'; if so, keep an eye on the exhcnage...a CF Para2 will be there in a day or so.

I've been looking for a P2 S90v for a while and no luck (hint, hint). It would make a nice addition to the other P2's I currently own.
