Hi Gang- I just received a D2 P1. Thank you, DF. This is my 3rd and last D2 Para.
I do believe this is my all-time favorite Spyderco. I prefer it, a tad :D, over the P2. This one is going to be my main EDC with my Orange E4 as a back up.
Who else likes the D2 Para Military?

I loved the combo of foliage green(my favorite Spyderco G10) and D2 on the PM1, but I sold mine as I could only use in it the choil position grip. I have two grip options with the PM2, and would love to see a Foliage Green PM2
The PM1 was the smoothest Spyderco I've ever had. A really great knife if the handle fits you.

Awesome Rolf! I have a P1 D2 i've had for a while and have absolutely have no desire to trade or sell it. It was missing the lanyard tube and some of the torx were stripped out but the blade and scales were absolutely mint! A quick call to Spyderco and that was sorted out. Congrats Rolf!
 
Just curious (still kind of new to the community) — why do some people prefer the PM1 to the PM2?

Nice comparison pics!

I prefer the PM2 only because I find the handle a bit small on the PM1. I do love the FG/CPM-D2 PM1 though, and if I carry it long enough, I warm up to the difference in handle ergos.

I just like the "Compactness" of the P1. It fit's my hand to the T.
btw, I do have a P2, just because it's essential. ;)

I think that this, the slightly longer blade, and the tip up clip option were the three big pluses for those that wanted an "upgraded" Para. I know the pivot is different on the P2, but I haven't heard that mentioned nearly as much as the other changes.

Like Rolf and some others, I still prefer the P1 and still have a couple of them, including my first ever P1 with dino-jimping (so she's an old girl now). They were just a perfect fit and I really liked the 3" blade. But I carry an Elmax P2. I love Elmax and I can live with the other changes to have a Para in a steel that I really like and that seems to do well for me in every category.

Rolf... enjoy that D2 P1 my friend. She was just beggin' to be used by somebody. Me keepin' her was like tryin' to make a lap dog out of a German Shepherd.
