I plan on buying one or the other but would like some end user opinions on the durability of both. The knife will be a general EDC and will be used at work and home...I'd say light to moderately heavy use. I've read threads about blade play on the P-military's, that may or may not occur with heavy use. LOts of opinions on this one.....My novice opinion is that the Sage is the way to go...tougher Ti slabs as well as a thicker lock...but then the P-military also has a time proven lock, albeit thinner, as well as larger grippier(cooler:cool:) scales. Sage2-or Para-Military which one is it?????

dang that is a hard choice,
well i have a paramilitary and a sebenza, close to sage 2, and if i had to pick i would get the sage 2. i think that either way you can not go wrong but a Ti RIL is just a great lock.

For light to medium duty, the Sage 2 would win by virtue of less perceived real estate in the pocket. The Para would win by virtue of better grip when used with wet or slippery hands.

Of the two, I'd probably choose the Sage Ti but not because of toughness or lack thereof. The list of pros and cons for each knife is longer than this.

I reckon it might depend on specific tasks. The steeper thumb ramp and large, grippy handle on the Para sure makes for some mighty control. Both being flat grinds make them great slicers and unless you push them to lock failure (pretty doubtful) I'd call it pretty darn even. If I had to rely on strictly control my choice would be the Para.

Its my subjective opinion that the Sage 2 is more akin to a gentleman's folder than a hard use knife. I would definitely vote for the Para if "moderate heavy use" is the standard, and the Para is without question more grippy too. JMO.

I don't own a Sage, but I can't imagine many knives that are much tougher than the Para. I'm sure both are tough enough but I'd probably go Para for heavier work.

I agree with this. but we all know you can't go wrong with owning one of each! :D

+1 Powernoodle speaks truth, get the Para

Completely different knives. The Para is way larger in the pocket than the Sage. I love my Para, but want to get a Sage, as the Sebenza unfortunately just doesnt do it for me.. The Para is a bit large to wear in slacks.. I still do it, but its big.

The compression lock should be the stronger lock. It also has a bigger handle for a better grip which is good in hard use. I also agree the Sage is more along the lines of a gentleman folder.

I own both and have not put them through "hard" use.

Using both avidly, I do like the feel/look of the Sage 2 better. Although not tested or based off of statistics I feel the Para is tougher due to it's nature. But then again the Sage 2 is a Ti Frame lock...

Maybe there are some numbers as far as pounds of pressure each lock can handle?

I'd pick the Sage II simply because it's more going for it than any other folder in it's price range and is a Masterpiece IMO.

They can both withstand all that you can expect from a folding knife to be honest, in regular (read: non abusive) heavy use they will not fail so just get the one you like the most with the ergoes that fits your hand the best.

:)
