I've picked up a brand new Para-Military2 and decided I want to put a new edge on it, since the factory edge is pretty garbage and uneven.
For this task I'll be using a Wicked Edge.

Before I start I'd like to hear some suggestions, since I'm not very experienced with the system yet.

• What's an optimal edge angle for an S30V Para-Military2 at general everyday tasks? I was thinking 30 inclusive, with a 40 micro bevel.

• Any tips for clamping a tapering full flat ground blade perfectly vertical? Recommended placement on the clamp will be much appreciated as well (top, bottom, A, A.5, B...).

• Recommended grit to start with? (50/80, 100/200...).

• Any other tip will be very much appreciated. :)

30 inclusive, with a 40 micro bevel is good for EDC. I use the Edge Pro so can't help with your set up. It might be wise to practice on a knife of lesser value until you get comfortable with the wicked edge system. Use a sharpie on the edge prior to starting each grit. This will give you a better idea as to where you are making contact with the blade.

Practice on some cheap knives first to get the hang of it and to break in your stones.

I sharpen my Para 2 to about 15deg per side with a Lansky from 320 to 2000 grit. My Para 2 (about 9months old) came with a very, very nice edge. All I had to do is refine it with a 1000+2000 grit. After a while I put a new, thinner edge on it.
