Been looking at one of these two knives. Same lock, just about the same handle and blade size. Same steel and right about the same price. The knifes role would be for general carry. I like to think that neither knife would look overly intimidating to the general public. So far the question for me comes down to the yojimbos cool design vs the paras coated blade. Any suggestions or opinnions are welcomed. -Thanks.

Much depends on how you use a knife. Personally, I like the Wharncliff blade design, but I don't much care for the broadness of the Yojimbo blade. On the other hand, the Yo was designed for self defense, not general utility, and I carry for utility. I can get the same blade profile with a Stanley utility knife for a lot less, and I don't have to regrind the blade every time I break off that ultra fine point.

I do carry a Paramilitary (among others) and find it very useful for general utility. The blade on mine is a bit over the three inch mark, which is well under the legal limit of four inches here.

If you live where they impose a sub three inch limit, the Yojimbo might be a better choice. If SD use is a major concern, the Yojimbo might be a better choice. But I carry a Paramilitary, and love it!

i think the yojimbo has been discontinued. might want to snap one up while you still have the chance.

AFAIK only the black Yo has been discontinued. It really depends what you look for in a knife. The Yo is a great slicer with a very aggressive tip. In many ways it is the ultimate utility knife. Think of a Stanley's knife on MAJOR steroids. I carry it often and like the shape of the blade very much, but I would say that the Para is more of an allrounder though the Yo is surprisingly versatile. Handle is very different as well. The Yo has the very deep "choil", which makes for a very secure grip, but really I like it best choked up with the middle finger in the handle cutout. The Para handle is less specific, very universal like that of the Mili, but personally I find the Para hand to be to short for my hand to be used without the 50/50 choil, which then limits the grip options quite a bit.

For me it is the Yo, but it is really hard to give advice on something that is mostly a choice of personal preference.

I am not sure about the intimidating part though. The Yo, is very edgy, or should I say, cornery :). It has something of a Stealth fighter plane. I would say it looks a lot more intimidating than the Para, but I am not a NKP and I am sometimes surprised at what is perceive intimidating and what is not.

I prefer the para, although I'd like to own both. I have actually owned the para.

I preferred the leaf shape blade, one of my favorite shapes, and the finger choil--I just love finger choils. They're both pretty big closed, but the yojimbo is surprisingly massive, at least, if my memory serves me correctly.

Can't go wrong either way. As you said, they're almost radically differenet takes on the same concept...
