In some thread a member asked how to make a para-cord gun sling. I figured since I had a little bit of time on my hands, a couple examples of the same knot, and the materials needed that I would post a How To thread.

Before I show the step-by-step pics here is a pic of what you can make using that knot.

All those items are made out of para-cord, either ACU camo or OD with glow in the dark strands. The key chain actually has a bobber with some sinkers wrapped up in the middle of it.

I'm running off the E.R. real quick to get tested for flu so I will finish this thread later, (once you here that the E.R. isn't busy and your sister can slip you in the back way why wait ;)) Until I come back here are some pics that may help.

Here is what that little series of knots did,

and if you continue that pattern it will end up looking like this,

looks good so far. I made a sling out of para cord a little while back using a completly differet knot, it was a little bit narrower that the one you are showing but still comfortable. thanks for the post!

Ok I'm finally back from the ER, I think the pics are good enough that I don't have to add written instructions, but if anyone if confused feel free to ask.

Is there a way to use two strands, so you can have a two-tone sling?

There is two different ways two tone slings, one way is to go ahead and tie a sling using one color para cord and then use a different color piece to tie the knots. (If you look close the darker OD bracelet has ACU camo under it). The best looking way to get two tone is to go ahead an tie a sling using 2 cords and then tie two different cords together and go over it, (If you look at one bracelet you will can see two tones.) I will try and post up pics to better explain how to do it.

Anything exciting to report from your ER visit?

Not going to die are you?

:D It was full of excitement, by the time I got there all the rooms were taken so I ended up in a spare bed in a closet. They ran two tests that took almost two hours to get the results back, so while waiting I decided to sneak off and find a vending machine. The hard part was finding a way back into the ER with the food. Once I finally got the results the Dr. (who I only saw once) told me that I didn't test positive for flu yet, but she felt I should go ahead and take some medication for it .

Well after I took the pics my memory card is not wanting to show on my computer.\

Edit: :D ok I got them uploading.

Well tornado watch/warning is in effect for my county and its lighting pretty bad so I'll be hopping off of here soon.

Great tutorial. Can you post a similar one on how you made the monkey's fist keychain?

That would be awesome, those things are a royal PITA to make.....at least for my stupid fingers. :p

Yes they are a royal PITA to make so sorry kjunx I don't think I can hold it, tie it, and take pics of it but this video may help.

Edit: This video is by Stormdrane (SP?), I am pretty sure he is a member on here.

I can type fast as hell, play the bass, guitar, and a smidgen of piano, so I know my fingers are dextrous, but knots and other rope and cordage tricks seem to elude me.

Great video, thanks, now i'll have to see how many times i have to re-watch to understand where all the twists and turns are :/

very nice set of pictures, I've been trying to figure out that knot for a while

Thanks!

^ No problem, also it took me a good while to figure out how to do it but once I figured out the correct method it is no problem.
