Paracord in Umnumzaan?

I recently picked up a slightly used Umnumzaan which didn't come with the original cord and the floating pin was removed (but was in the box). I want to attach a paracord lanyard to the pin but the hole in the pin seems way too small for the paracord to fit. Am I missing something? Is the cord which originally comes with the Umnumzaan a thinner diameter than regular paracord? I did try that trick where you wrap a bit of paper around the cord and thread it through the hole but that wasn't even close to working.

By the way, the Umnumzaan is simply stunning. I have owned a lot of knives...some much more expensive than this but none as nice. This knife just makes me smile when I hold it in my hand. The smoothness of the action as the blade opens and closes, the muted click as it opens due to the bumpers on the thumb studs. Literally No blade play when open. I have also owned large and small Sebenzas, Striders, Terzoulas, Crawfords.... but they didn't do it for me like this Umnumzaan does. Very well done, Mr. Reeve!

I would gut the paracord and use that, though the cord wrap they use must be thinner then normal.

Something like 550 cord is a pretty tight fit but if you gut the first 0.5" or so of the cord, melt the end of it and roll it to a point you should be able to pull it through no bother, maybe some good tweezers or needle nose pliers will help, it might be an idea to clean up any burr thats left on the hole of the lanyard pin as well. :)

I always forget to mention that to other people! +1 for pointing that out!

I had the same issue. I tried taking all the guts out but didn't like the result, it was too flat. I ended up taking like two or three of the inner strands out but left the rest in. It was a tight fit but I got it in eventually and it is now perfect.

I ended up taking all of the threads out of a short strand of 550 paracord and threading that through the hole. Even that was a very tight fit. I knotted it and melted the ends. I then used that loop as the anchor for a fob made of of regular, unstripped 550 cord. A round about way of doing it but it ended up working quite well.

Thanks for the advice and tips!
