Paracord lanyard and clip for yachtsman?

Hey guys,

I have a couple of requests here. I just bought a Camillus yachtsman for my stepfather for Christmas (looks in pretty good shape, older one, 40$ on the bay, figured that was good. Wanted to get him a 315 like mine but couldn't find a good price on one). He's decided to start sailing so we created a little beginners package for him (sailing book, knot book, sea-bands) and I suggested the knife.

Here's my two requests:
1. pics of lanyards with clips that you've used on similar knives (saw some good pics on a thread here but more would help)
2. idea where I could get a brass clip to put on the lanyard

I have some paracord and figure after I clean and hone the knife I'll do the lanyard, make it a little nicer. Thanks all for the help.

You've seen the thread with pics, and there are other threads as well. As far as a clip, I'm not sure what you mean. Do you have a pic of what you're looking for?

Is it a snap clip that would be used to tether the knife to something? I've used one of these clips for my key ring for many years and is still very useable. the reaseon I like it is that the gate is a torsion bar spring which minimized metal fatigue. I've had other types of snap clips fail because of a spring failure.

That's exactly what I was looking for! Sorry for not a better explanation. On the lanyards I was hoping to find one with a close up enough shot I could try and figure out how it was tied, I'm not expert with paracord but have managed a couple of bracelets and one of those monkey fists. Thanks guys.

figure you could acquire just such a clip from your local hardware store.
be sure it's brass though.

Brass clips like that are available at any good marine store. I'd try West Marine if you have to go online, they have almost everything. Won't come with lanyard, get some paracord and make your own....

A clip on a boat knife has saved me several of them.....

I used stainless steel clips, and found them in my local hardware store, which has a large selection of brass, galvanized & stainless, but I live in the oldest seaport in the U.S. and is still a working commercial fishing town so probably a better selection than most, I wanted to use a D shackle on the knife end so if I needed to take off or switch knife quick I could, but couldn't find one small enough, so went with a quick link instead. I made the leash long enough to get a full reach, but short enough so if dropped with blade open would not hit the ground.
