Hi guys,

I am getting rather frustrated at having no luck on finding the right paracord locks.
The ones I buy on ebay are either too small or too big and almost none of them lock firmly

I use 550 paracord.

The best (and unfortunately the only one) lock I have is the one that came with my Esse 6 knife. Does anyone have any ideas where I can find some of those?

They are perfect in size and lock pretty firm.
I dont think I have permission to post any pics but i am hoping you know which ones i am after

your help is greatly appreciated!

Describe exactly what the lock you are looking for looks like. Is it a ball, oval, circular? Does it have two openings for two cords or one? Hopefully I can point you in the right direction.

how do you post pictures here? that would probably be the easiest way of explaining...

open a free account at an image hosting site, such as photobucket, imageshack, flickr, ect. After you upload the photos, you can link em here using
tags. Easiest way is to click the "insert image" icon and paste the photo URL there.

I'd rather knot down than use sprung dongle thingies. Those doo dads scream "guest user" to me.

Outside ebay, only places that I know of that sells them are places like MEC, and wholesalesports (both Canadian). Otherwise, check out Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops. Most camping stores would carry them.

Hell, email ESEE and ask if they'd sell you some directly.

Go to your local fabric store, they will have them for like .97 cents or there abouts. You could also try craft stores. Here are a few names in my area that carry them, Jo-Ann fabrics, Hancock,Michaels.
I bought those exact fasteners along with some nylon webbing, buckles, etc. at Jo-Ann Fabrics.

Dude, how can you say that when you don't even know what the intended use is?
Too many Bear Grylls reruns?

The brand you are looking for is the ITW Nexus. they should have nexus stamped on them. I've bought cordlocks off of the bay, and the plastic is soft and weak. The Nexus ones are harder, and have a stronger spring. As well, when you buy them they are "compressed" and when you push the button for the first time, then they spring back and lock. you will have to pay for them though, they can run upward of a buck each, instead of the few cents the chinese ones go for.

Cordlocks are very useful, as are knots in the right time and place. I use a cheap cordlock as a "breakaway" when neck carrying my Izula.
