Here are some recent projects involving paracord ( and some
smaller stuff also :) )

Here are some "Nantucket Bracelets" I recently made...

Bracelets.png

These made from one piece of cord, the top right is standard 550
paracord. The top left is 3 mm accessory cord. The bottom is made
from 1.8 mm cord. The paracord bracelet is a 7 bight 5 lead turks
head, the other two are 14 bight 5 lead turks head. The yellow
rascal took about 16 ft of cord to make.

Here are a couple of Key Fobs...

The top Fob is a Monkey Fist wrapped around the 3/4 in ball bearing.

The ball on the yellow and green fob is just a Chinese button knot
tied with two cords.

Nice work! What did you use to tie the bracelets around?

Ah so, the Master Braider takes note of the Grasshopper...

I use Dan Burrhus' Turks Head Tool and his Cookbook to get
the initial run and then transfer to a 500 count plastic Tylenol
bottle ( 3+ in) after taking up some slack and a second pass.
I then transfer to a 134 count Osteo Biflex plastic bottle (a bit less
than three inches ) an do the final run (aka lead) and tighten up again.

I have been using super glue to "tie off" the two ends.

Unfortunately I have large palms and scrawny wrists so the
result sometimes looks a bit floppy on my wrist.

I am searching for a source for 2~3mm nylon cord. It seems
to be difficult to find in a variety of solid colors.

Do you have any suggestions?

I've used plastic bottles or cans that I've had laying around to make the few Nantucket bracelets that I've done. I've only done a few of those and they came out ok, but a bit uneven. I think yours look much better than mine. :)

R&W Rope Warehouse makes a large variety of cordage with different materials. I've seen them mentioned by IGKT members before. Their 'Handy Hundred' cords are available in a variety of colors/diameters. I've only had contact with them thru email, but their response was to call them and tell 'em what you're looking for. They're not set up to sell online, but I'm sure they could help you if you call them. (800) 260-8599

Hey stormdrane I've been living off of your blog lately getting new ideas and learning some new methods. Just learned to tie the most simple turks head and my head has been spinning over trying to learn the lanyard knot using the spool and nails. I've watched your video over and over and am still having issues wrapping my head around it.

I'll get there eventually.

If you change the number of bights and leads, you can fit nearly any sized wrist.

It takes a little trial and error. I'll be back as soon as I can figure out how to manage this board.

Yea, I tied a Monkey fist last night, It took awhile but after trial and error I did it, I use to tie many of them back in the day, but my hands are not as small, I found a great video link thanks to Stormdrane that was a great and helped a lot now I want to try some harder projects and make a few lanyards for my knives, There was a guy selling lanyards on bladeforums I bought one to study it looks like a coffin with a pewter skull Great work by the way!
I would like to do a few of those, I need to find out were he got those little skulls at. lots of fun helps time pass by while wife watches stupid shows like American idol:jerkit: sorry to you AI fans just not into that. LOL:D
Good Luck all and happy Knots!

I have been fiddling with Turks Head Knots as "covers" also:

TurksHeadSphere.jpg

The large keyfob uses a 5 part x4 bight (3) over a one inch wood ball,
the smaller is an example of a 5 part x 4 bight (2) cover for a
3/4 in nylon ball.

I think the Turks Head covers look a bit nicer than the Monkey Fist.

The background a my "Captain Marvel" 5 part x 14 bight (aka
Nantucket ) bracelet.
