Paracord wrap versus Leather wrap

I've noticed that most all, if not all, of the thinner skeleton frame fixed knives are wrapped with paracord. I realize that paracord resists rotting, fraying, etc but does anyone use just leather lacing instead? I don't think I have seen any pictures of any. Also, are there different size diameters of paracord?

Andy L..........thanks for link. Not so sure if I like the looks of the way it was wrapped in leather but bet that it has a good grip.
