Paracord Wrapped Handle or a Polycarbonate Scales Handle?

I have a need for a few of these types of $20 knives to leave in places that I do not care if they get broken, lost, or stolen.

I like the feel of the paracord and look, but it might not be practical, long lasting (stretches out, stains), as compared to the Polycarbonate Scales Handle.

Is the Polycarbonate Scales Handle nearly unbreakable? What are the drawbacks of both?
 
paracord is going to hurt if you really need to do lengthy chores like chopping. In addition to staining, they'll hold moisture as well as germs which can contaminate your food, transfer to a cut in your hand etc.

PC is what bullet-proof "glass" is made of. It probably won't shatter or chip, but it may be slippery to use.
 
Get the polycarbonate grips. Paracord is cheap if you need it and the grips make the knives easy to use.
 
the War-Head isn't exactly a utitility knife though, it's a big dagger that can be used as a spear head

but ya the polycarbonate handle will be a lot more comfortable and durable
 
I disagree. The War Head can be a great utility knife depending on what the utility is. It has all the best attributes of a knife and a machete. It's a good knife to use on small vines and vegetation and if you're hiking around and need a good general utility knife for cutting vines and for self protection, it's hard to beat. If I had to take on a bear with a knife, I would probably choose this one.

I would go with the polycar. option if I knew about it before ordering my cord wrapped one. I would advise having it in hand before buying, as I found mine to be very thin and I am not sure I would trust it as either a chopper or spear. Once spring comes I'll put it through its paces and see what I think of it then.
