Hello,

I really like paracord wrapped handles on some smaller knives I haves. F.e. I tried both micarta and paracord handles on my Izula, and I like the paracord wrapped handle better.

I hope to receive my ordered Becker Bk-9 today.

Now I'm wondering if anyone ever tried paracord wrapped handles on their bigger Becker (or other) knives.

And if so, what were your experiences with it.

The scales on the bigger Becker knives are designed to be extremely ergonomic. They fit the hand very well, which will avoid hotspots and all that stuff you don't wand to get after using your knife for a few hours. Try using the knife with the stock handles for a bit, if you think they suck, follow this tutorial.

have fun.

Fjell, im also waiting for a BK9, shipping to Sweden seems to take forever for some:D

I used to have a crappy "survival" knife, rambo style shit that looked cool when i was 12, this came without any handles so i wrapped it with some old shoelace and it was actually really comfortable.
The knife had about 7" blade and broke after a few months, enormous chips in the edge and finally snapped:p

Norrpan42, my BK-9 just arrived. Had to pay an additonal 37 dollars to the local customs :jerkit:, but I'm glad it is here.

Took two weeks to ship from the USA to here, so not to bad.

Nice Knife:thumbup: The weight feels really good, and the handle fits my hand nicely. The handle doesn't have an texture, so I'm not to sure about howel te grip will be, but that will be something I have to find out when I test it.

Maethor, thanks for the vid.

Congrats on the new blade, the 9 is a real workhorse for sure.

I tend to para wrap my smaller blades, but I like a more substancial handle for the larger ones. Paracord offers good purchase on the grip, but unless you put a tight wrap on, it tends to shift when chopping at stuff, and wear the hand when you're working, or at least that's my experience. If you want to try it, show us how you do it, I would love to see it.

Hey, more fellow Europeans. Maybe we could get some collective ordering set up some time? There is also a online shop in Germany that sells Becker knives. It's a lot more expensive than in the USA, but I think it kinda cancels out due to the lower shipping fees and no customs or tax. Yay for EU!

Well, 37$ in customs isnt that big of a deal imo, but it still sucks:D

Give that blade a good home and make it work hard!

If you find you dont like it, just send it to me for disposal;)

Edit: Maethor, i found some dealers in the netherlands that carry becker, ESEE and a few other good brands. the cost with shipping tho is about 10$ more than if i take from say TKC and then pay customs so its still not a super deal :(
Do you have any good tips for german online shops that i can view in english?

I can understand that you like a substantial handle on a larger knife. Therefore I liked the video that maethor posted. That person wrapped paracord over the micarta handle.

Now, I just tried that and that makes the handle TOO substantial. However, when I remove the inner-strangs of the paracord the paracord is much flatter. And I must say, if feels good. I share your concerns about the shifting of the cord when chopping so that is something I will have to find out by experience.

Norrpan a german shop which sells Becker's is for example http://www.outdoormesser.de But the website seems to be down right now.

This how it looks now. I removed the inner-strangs of the paracord, so it is pretty flat now. I putted both end of the paracord together in order to create a "guard" so that the knife can't "fly" out of my hand when chopping.
