I was looking at a thread and saw pics of paracords and lanyards. I am new to knives and have a Persistence and a Delica is coming today. So, what do cords do and what should I look for and stuff. Alternative to a clip? How makes them or sells them or trades for them? Sorry if this sounds dumb

These are good for getting at a knife buried in a pants pocket, top of a ruck sack, etc. I also like to use them make small things easier to find ("thumb drives" for example). With a lanyard, I generally would not want a pocket clip which could hang up on stuff.
A few guys on this site make and sell fancy ones or, you can buy some paracord or leather and make your own pretty cheap.
