Finally, I got my first two Paradigms ( one of each) last night from the Ebayer. I am still waiting for KC to send me a email saying they are on their way! The knives are both great. Fast opening, good fit and finish, and no blade play. The only issue that I see, is what appears to me to the the lock itself. The blade stop pin rotates when you push the top bolster back to allow the blade to open. This is the safety for the assisted opening action, and that part works well, but it also seems that this is the lock that keeps the blade open when in use? If this is so, then there is only a very small surface side of the pin that rotates and therefore acts as the blade lock open surface. After reading how many people worry about lock up with frame locks, liner locks, lock backs, and axis locks, I must say this lock worries me abit. If anyone from Buck can jump in and tell me if I am worng, please do! Is there some other pin or locking feature that helps to lock the blade open that I can't see?
I am happy with the knives either way, and I don't use my knives in a way would I would expect this lock to fail, but I am sure there are those who worry about lock failure that will have sleepless nights with what I see as a small surface of a rounded blade stop pins as being the only lock.....

Much better than a Flash II ( I have have one aluminiun and four plastic ones), as for the Blur ( I have about 25 various ones), it is thicker, heavier, but feels much better in your hand. They open around the same speed as most of my Blurs. Very sharp out of the box. They are definately a step above the Blurs, and two steps above the Sog Flash. I was not trying to sound to critical about the locking pin, but I know guys around this whole forum get hung up on blade lock up, and this design seems a bit light in that area. I will say at the new higher price point, and the average price of $100, and $120 ( for the two different models), they are worth it, but not the bargin value the Vanatge is ( or was even more so before their price increase), or the amazing bargin the standard 110 is. Of course that is my opinion, but I have a 1,000+ knife collection, and have been collecting for 40 years, so at this point I think I have a good sense about these things....lol....

Thanks Tom for the review. I'm one of those people that kind of prefer
a more center lockup. I'm not a fanatic about it, but it does affect my
trust. I don't have near the collection that you do, but I've been doing
this quite a while too.....I guess at 60 I've been doing a lot of things for
quite a while:D:D.
At the price point, the Paradigm will be in some fairly heavy hitter territory.
Quite a few knives out there in that price range and I hope the Paradigm
does well. I guess I'll just have to see and handle one before I make a decision.
Thanks again for your review.
Regards Sonny

Can you get in there and take some pics of the locking surfaces? Thanks tom.

Thanks for the info Tom,I've been more of a user than a collector until recently. After using all kinds of blades for almost 50 years,I'm now starting to collect only Buck knives. One thing that I really like about the Paradigm is the steel options, both great imho. Most other A/O brands use AUS 8 and are not made in the USA.I'm still waiting for the Avid I ordered 6 months ago,if I knew then what I know now I'd have ordered a Pro at the same time. lol

I looked over the standard Paradigms again Saturday at an upscale sporting goods store. I just dont know about the stop strength - or that twisting bolster. I believe, as I am not a 'collector' - but, rather, a 'user-collector' - I will leave the Paradigm family to others. Good luck!
