Does anybody here have one of these? Are you satisfied or have you had problems with it? I'm thinking of ordering one from Pioneer Valley (www.pvk.com). Has anyone ordered from them before? I e-mailed them asking if they had an "Automatic Knife Form" like most other sites and they replied that they don't. If that's true, how do they verify your eligibility to receive automatic knives? I'm US Mil, so I don't have to worry about it but I'm just curious.

hey there Holden,
I'll dispense what very little knowledge I can, although I'm sure it will be followed up by someone more knowledgeable than I eventually....*l*

I've placed a couple of orders with PVK, and they've been truly excellent to me, and they seem to have a terrrific reputation around here. If you'd like to see for yerself go over to the "Good, Bad, Ugly" and do a search for PVK, I doubt you'll find anything negative. As I recall, when it comes to auto's what it boils down to, is that it's YOUR responsibility to know the laws in your area. By placing an order from them for an auto knife, you are confirming that you know the laws in your area, and if you do something stupid it's you a$$ and not PVK's (bit of a paraphrase);)

As far as the ATKO 10 goes....ah, it's awight. I find them to be pretty inferior to the Daltons and the SWATs, which are usually found in the same approximate price range your looking at. (sometimes less) The Paragon has never felt quite as durable, and doesn't have as much "kick" as the others. I also don't think it has as tight of tolerances or even as nicely ground of a blade. I know when you're a newbie (like me) there's alot of people that will tell you "for a few dollars more you can get ______knife instead of that one and it's alot better" until you find yerself goin' from a $40 Spyderco up to a $325+ CRK Sebenza, but in this regard you REALLY do get alot more bang for yer buck for the same price, or sometimes $50 more. Good luck to ya'!

When they first showed up in the knife store that I work in about a year ago I thought they were pretty cool and had to have one. They do feel alittle loose when you play with them and the ramp that is used to recharge the blade slides up the side of the handle when the knife is fired so you have to keep your fingers clear on the one side of the handle. Not as nicely finished as a Microtech. You can get a Chinese copy of a Halo3 for about $30 that might be better.

Somehow I doubt that any of those clones are actually worth the box they're shipped in. I've never owned one myself but how good can they possibly be? I mean, usually you get what you pay for.

You should ask to read the warranty before you buy. You would be surprised to find out how poor Paragon is. They really do NOT stand behind their product. They won't even answer their telephone (assuming you are persistent enough to find it).
