Hello,

I recently purchased my first Spyderco (Ambitious) and am pretty impressed.

Next on the list is the Paramilitary 2 with satin blade.

The plan is to acid etch and then stone wash the blade. Then swap out the scales for some OD green canvas micarta scales from CSD.

I've attached the following image to illustrate:

My question is, I'd still like to be able to see the Spyderco logo after all is complete. I ran across a forum where someone that had purchased a Tenacious from a private seller that had etched/stonewashed, and he was able to "etch" the logo back in.

What procedure did the buyer actually do to etch the logo back in?

Thanks!

Perhaps he masked off the surrounding area and used more acid on the spyder itself after the stonewash? That would be quite the delicate job, but with an xacto knife, tape, and some patience I bet you could manage it.

That's the first thing that I thought off too, could have masked the logo. Definitely would be a delicate detailed job though. Could be something else though, I can't say I'm knowledgable on the process.

I have some experience with this (look up my work on Boker Kwaikens), and found that the more stonewashing you do post-etch, the more the logo comes back. It also helps if the acid bath is short and not allowed to darken as much.
