I want to fit custom pocket clips to a couple of these knives; the stock screws aren't long enough, so I'm trying to identify them to find suitable replacements. I did a search and couldn't find anything here.

Does anyone know the details of the type of screw that is used in this part of these knives? I found this thread on the Spyderco forum; it says I need US #2-56 but I'm not sure that's all the information I need? I know they're T6 button heads, I'm just weary of not matching other crucial details.

I think I need about 4mm (at most) more length on the screws - any help gratefully received.

I've been looking into the same thing lately while messing around with different clips. For the MXG clip I had it needed slighty longer screws but I can tell you 1/4" was too long. I ended up with 3/16". I've been debating trying 7/32" but haven't yet. By eye the stock screws seemed like 3/16" but the ones I got seemed to have a little more bite. Wondered if the threads were less chamfered at the screw tip?

BTW this was all for Para 2s and 3s.

I think I bought both button and pan head depending on availability but I'm not sure how much difference it makes if any.

You are right that they are 2-56.

If you are putting any screws near the blade for tip down carry, make sure they aren't too long or you'll mess with the action.

Really helpful answer - thank you.

Due to the fact I'm using custom scales and clips, I deliberately ordered 1/4 screws because I figured if there is any excess I will just file it off, I'd rather have too much than little or I've wasted money.

Yes great idea! I ordered a bunch of sizes both out of curiosity, and because I had a bunch of different combinations of scales and clips.

FWIW, 1/8" screws seem to work well - at least in a stock scale - for clip holes with NO clip. Thinking I'm going to install those on stock scales that have clip holes drilled by the pivot...keep more gunk out of the pivot.

Agree,,, always disliked the screw holes around the pivot,,,, easy access for gunk into the washers and pivot area.

FK
