Paramilitary 2 blade blanks

I've been hanging around here for a while, haven't posted anything, just been using Bladeforums as my not-so-private private resource for all things knives. Anyway, the other day while working I was wondering a little about my Paramilitary 2, which don't get me wrong, I love. But I've always wished it had a slightly different grind and a thicker tip, and I remember a while back there were a few factory blanks of some Spyderco Natives running around. Now assuming the paramilitary blades are stamped the same as a Native blade, are there any Paramilitary blade blanks running around?

Regards

Jon

The PM2 blades are laser cut, not stamped, and if there are any blanks out there, they are probably stolen. You could likely have a custom maker produce a new blade made to your specs for not too much more than a couple of new knives would cost. Fitting the lock is a job for a professional familiar with the compression lock. Good luck.

Thanks for the correction on the method of manufacturing. That's probably true that most would be stolen. Have you heard of anyone doing something similar on a PM2? Switching the blade. I'd be curious to see one with something other than a full flat grind

Hi TheJon, with the extremley tight tolerences of the amazing PM2 imho doing a blade swap may not be a good idea. I think it would be better to seek out a different Spyderco model with the blade characteristics you desire.

Not that I don't love the idea of having an excuse to buy a new knife haha but I have plenty that work well enough. I was more asking out of curiosity. The paramilitary is about as close to perfection as you can get, I just carried a Manix for 2 years, and got used to the slightly thicker tip on it.

I have wondered this too i would love to have a custom blade made for mine in 3v. But hopefully it will just hurry up and become a sprint run:-)

Hi TheJon,

Welcome to our forum.

Shouldn't be any blade blanks floating around. But we do license a number of customer makers to make knives with our trademarked opening hole, you might look into that?

You might want to check out a Superleaf for a thicker blade and a compression lock.
They're discontinued, so you'll have to look in the secondary market.
