Did a little test. Cutting 1.16 lbs of cardboard up.
Edge help up fine and still push cuts printer paper, and slices thinner brochure paper.

Here you can see the edge being dulled a little but still cutting fine.

S30v blade, no not the factory edge due to it being badly sharpened and thus not being controlled for this testing which would just cause issues with results.
For edge retention I do one of two edges: Straight 20 degree bevel with newspaper stroppping (this is for beefy geometries). Or a 20 degree microbevel on a narrower backbevel. For consistency's sake, I sharpen on the sharkmaker prior to stropping and after stropping I measure the angle via an iphone app.

This particular test was done was a 20 degree microbevel stropped on full grain leather with 6,000 grit compound. It was hair whittling sharp before testing.

And how do you measure blade angle with it - macro photograph, or a photograph while on the stone?

What was the name of the app?

I use two apps named AngleFinder to confirm angle.

And how do you measure blade angle with it - macro photograph, or a photograph while on the stone?

I use a piece of glass. I lay the blade and center it, with the iphone as a base. I calibrate the phone's app to set as 0. then I put the knife on the glass with a piece of paper in between. Then I glide the edge and keep raising the angle until the edge catches the paper then I position the phone to watch the blade's angle and take measurement.
It's a bit tricky but if you do it a bit you get the hang of it.
I would say maybe 1 degree margin of error.
