Hello , folks
This post is going to go a little deeper that the title Suggest. I have many thoughts flowing through my mind . I'll try to make it as succinct as possible and still convey my thoughts and feelings .
First a little history .. for 2 decades I just carried my leathermans. I was satisfied with the knife that they provided . Especially the one handed opening of the wave series. Recently I decided to get me a dedicated folder . I'm now 10 knives in , lol .. and here's where I stand .
Being a noob at knives . When I went searching , I had two criteria. I really loved the s30v blade steel on my leatherman charge tti. So american made and s30v blade steel . Ran into the manix 2 and it fulfilled that criteria. And damn did it feel good in my hand . Went searching the net and reading about knives . Had to try the paramilitary 2 . To see what all the hype was about . And damn is was all it was hyped up to be . Was interested in the military , but always found a reason not to get one . Bought a few zt's , loved them as well . Then wanted to try the "it" knife . Bought a chris reeve, sebenza 21 .. omg!! That knife means so much to me . It was worth the savings and sacrifice it took to get it. You can view my thoughts on that knife . In the chris reeve forum "what my sebenza means to me " . That said , owning the grail sebenza did not diminish my love and respect for the paramilitary one bit . Hats off to Sal and the spyderco family . For making suck a kick ass knife at this price point . It truly is a marvel .... if I could only have one knife , it would be my sebenza . That said if my only knife was a military or pm2 . I would not feel I was lacking or that it was a substandard compromise.
So I finally broke down and got a military ... I couldn't be happier .. fit and finish is perfect .. blade perfectly centered , action smooth as butter . It flips out with that orgasmic twack. Lock up at 10% and smooth as butter . After owing all these knives . I want to give some special props to spyderco. Things I think they Excell at as compared to other manufacturers. First the sharpness and edge grinds on spyderco knives .. are the best of any manufacturer that I have experienced . And that includes chris reeve. I have never felt the need to reprofile a spyderco knife out of the box . The worst in my experience are zt's , only my 0450 was perfect out of the box . Next their price point .. 90.00 dollars for a manix 2 or 120.00 for a pm2 . With the quality of construction , s30v steel .. you can't beat that shit with a stick ... damn , I've already did what I said I wouldn't do . I've droned on to long ... I hope I made my point .. even when you get into higher end knives , you never outgrow a good spyderco ... next on my list a titanium military. .. would love to hear y'alls thoughts ... can ya feel me ?

Congrats!

Luv the looks of the Military but my PM2 is a bit too large for me to EDC so the Military would probably be even more so. So, as much as I lust for a Millie, I can't see getting one knowing it'll rarely, if ever, get any pocket time. :(

My only Millie is a CPM CruWear version, and I'm very much more than impressed with the platform, and also the steel. The PM2 is still the last of my 45 Spydies I'd ever get rid of, my CTS-204P PM2 specifically. I think my CruWear Millie would take place before my S30V PM2, as would my Chokwe if I really had to pick favourites.

Panzeron, I kinda like you - you aren't afraid to gush.
I'm a bit more dour; but I like knives, and appreciate reading how people respond to them. I've warmed up to Spyderco quite a bit over the past 2 years. (I had some baseless prejudice against the brand for a long time.) The Manix2 was my second Spydie, and it struck the right chord (mostly, lol). Like you, I eagerly jumped to the PM2 - I liked almost everything about it; but couldn't quite embrace it. (I didn't give up, though - I tried 3 times; finally doing the scale swap that I knew from the start would transform the knife for me. Now I love it, and carry it regularly.) The Military was the 5th Spyderco model I tried - and I thought it was great as soon as I had it in hand. I, too, have thought about the ti handled version; but so far, I've balked at the markups I've seen on the Exchange. Enjoy!

I thought the same thing about the military and it's size . But now having one , not so much ... it is just slightly heavier than the pm2 . At least for me carries just as easy . The biggest difference in size that you'll notice is the handle .. but it just feels right . My biggest reason for resisting the military was the tip down only clip. but as others have stated , it just works with this knife .. I also worried that the clip up toward the front like that wound hinder the ergonomics and create a hot spot .. nope , perfectly comfortable. .. if it's an option , go to a local shop and handle one .. I'll bet you'll be pleasantly suprised . The military may unseat my pm2's as my favorite spyderco. . And only second to my sebenza. . We'll see after the excitement of its newness wears off ... but every reason I had for not getting a military has proven to not be a factor . After owning one ..
