Okay so I don't know if a thread like this has already been started but i didn't find anything when i searched so I'm going to post it anyway. The idea just popped into my head to make a thread devoted to the Para2 (Or para 1 it doesn't matter) I would like for this to be a thread for posting pics of your P2, asking for information, Telling a story about your experience with the knives and just discussing the knives themselves.

I will start off by saying that the P2 never really jumped out at me at first. I had owned a military and loved it but never was super interested in the P2. Well after awhile I started to enjoy the looks of the knife and decided i would like one so i go onto the trade forums and look for one only to find that every time i would be close to sealing the deal on a P2, the other person would decide they wanted to keep it. This happened five times and to say i was frustrated would be an understatement.

Well I finally managed to get one a couple of weeks ago ad i must say I really enjoy this knife. Ergos are perfect, Carries extremely well, Buttery smooth opening and closing ETC....

So anyway on to the best part, PICS!!

That's all for now. Please feel free to contribute!

We have kind of a similar story OP!
I was never too fond of the Paramilitary myself before i joined this forum:)
I was more active on another one and over there, people like it but don't praise it like folks on here:D
So after seeing many threads about it i bought one. A digi camo like yours.
I loved it!
I was surprised with the ergos, the smothness of the blade and it's cutting ability. The camo was surprisingly of my liking too:confused:

After a while i sold it because i needed the money to fund something more rare!
I thought, "i will find another one whenever i want to so i'm going to sell it!", and i did.

A month or so after i had the chance of buying a Sprint Run Para2.

Actually, now that i think about it, i sold it to buy the cts-20cp version of it LOL:D
I liked it very much but sold it one month or so after!!
I couldn't bare myself to use it!
The grey G-10 was so nice that i was afraid to mess it up. I know, i'm stupid!
Also what made me sell it, or both actually, was the slight bladeplay i felt on them!
I believe this is the biggest issue with this knife.
By grabbing the ricasso you probably won't feel it but when grabbing by the tip it is noticeable.

Anyway, this past week i saw on for sale at a good price so i snagged it!
It's a standard s30v with black G-10 Para2 but i can't wait for it to get here:)
The slight bladeplay is an instant deal breaker for me but on this knife i can put up with it!
I really missed the Para2 and despite the bladeplay issue i still believe it's Spyderco's best model ever made!

I wasn't sure on the camo handles at first but though (What the hell, It's better than plain black) That's a shame you didn't use the 20cp version you had, i bet it's amazing! I never thought about checking for blade play until reading your post and it urns out mine does have the smallest amount of side to side play but I'm sure i could remedy that by tightening the pivot I'm just too lazy to do so.

Let us know how you like your new P2 when you get it:)

I am new to the Para2- I always thought there was too much handle for the amount of blade, but I always liked the thought of the compresion lock. Finally, all the positive comments, and the chance to get one with M390 did me in. I'm trying to give this a chance to be my EDC (nothing yet has managed to displace my MiniGrip). I really like the ergos, but it is really hard to get out of my pocket. Will the G10 break-in and get easier to pull out? Or do I need to get out some sandpaper?

TIA, Mike

The g10 on mine isn't super rough So it must be the sprint ones that are. G10 will eventually wear but it will take a long time. I recommend lightly going over the spot where the clip makes contact with some sandpaper and wear a respirator of course or get it wet before you start sanding.

I bought one earlier this year after reading how great it was in various threads here and at other forums.

I started with the digicam/satin blade, then bought the recent brown G10/S35VN blade sprint run.

I pre-ordered the green G10/CTS-204p blade because I found the blue G10/ M390 sprint run too expensive.

I would like to see more sprint runs of it in ELMAX and CPM-M4.

Of course, the Para 2 does the usual EDC tasks with ease. But what I don't see as often is praise for it as a woodworking knife. I took a little day hike yesterday and since it was a little wet out, I decided I'd try to get a small fire going, just for practice. I had the PM2 on me, and I made two big feathersticks out of some Osage. It shaves wood just about as easily as my scandi knives. The handle is great for this, as it allows you to get a bushcraft-style fist grip right up at the base of the blade (utilizing the choil). It is also comfortable in the reverse, or chest-lever, grip, which is useful for most carving tasks. My only gripe is the jimping on the back of the handle liners is a bit aggressive for prolonged use in that fist grip. I may fill that in with epoxy or something, or maybe just sand it smoother. But it's the cutting performance I'm most impressed with.

As for the blade play, it has a little wiggle if you grab it out by the tip. So does my Mini-grip. I don't see why it's a problem. It has zero vertical play. Possibly the wiggle could be taken out by tightening the pivot screw, but I haven't felt the inclination yet.

Great blade shape, great steel, great handle, great lock. That's about all you can ask for.

love my para2! Only gripe is the spine is really thick. So thick that cardboard cutting is at times pretty difficult. But I suppose you need the spine to be classified as a hard use knife.

I Love My Para2, Currently Looking To Trade It Off For Something Different Though. I Really Love The Knife.. But With The Addition Of 3 Knives That Have Taken Over My EDC, It Just Doesn't Get The Use And Carry It Deserves Anymore. But I May Just Keep Him. He's My Baby Lol.

Isn't He Awesome? Lol.

I love mine. Their needing to be tuned for no bladeplay can be a tad annoying. It is however a great knife.

This one is temporarily in my care... I decided I couldn't resist the blue one so I am buying one of those and then I'll trade Mr. Brown for something else.

Great pics guys (And girl:)) The blade play thing is no big deal and if it was i would have tightened it up by now. Thanks for keeping the thread alive!

Well, Mine Had Decided To Develop A Little Play And Become Off Center.
So I Tightened Him Up And Now He Is Rock Solid With No Play And Is A Tad Off Center.
This Doesn't Really Bother Me Though And It Normally Does, But With The Para2 It Doesn't Bother Me At All.
I Guess That Proves My Love For The Knife.
Honestly, I'd Really Love To Have A Black/Satin Para, Or The Brown/s35vn. Maybe Someone Will Trade Their Black For My Camo?

Yes, actually it's the blue one (got 2 birds with 1 stone - got a Para and some M390), that's why I'm a little gunshy about taking some sandpaper to it. We'll see how it goes - if I decide its for sure a keeper, it'll get sanded.

FWIW- Mine came almost perfectly centered and with no play.
