Paramilitary 2 Lock Stick

Hey guys,

I've had my Paramilitary 2 since Christmas, and it seems like the lock is becoming more difficult to disengage as time goes on. I'm not sure if it's bad enough to be considered lock stick, but every time I disengage the compression lock it takes a little bit of force and there is an audible "click" when the lock finally gives way. It's not bad, but it's noticeable.

I took the whole knife apart today, cleaned it, lubed it, and put it back together. It opens and closes more smoothly now, but the lock is still the same as before. The strange thing is that if I open it gently, the lock is more difficult to disengage. But if i put some wrist action into it and really flip it open hard then the lock is much easier to disengage. I would expect it to be the opposite.

Any thoughts?

Mine used to be sticky.

Rubbed the end of a pencil on the blade/lock interface....seemed very smooth (for 2 or 3 months, now). Might want to give a little graphite treatment like that a shot.

The well documented "stop pin trick" which simply involves rotating the stop a quarter turn may very well help. There are even YouTube video's on the subject I believe. I have used it myself on both PM2's and Yojimbo2's.

This works. May need to do it a few times to get it really smooth. Did same thing with my manix2 helped a lot.

Thanks everyone. I had tried the stop pin truck already to no avail. The graphite seemed to help slightly...I prob need to do it a few more times.

I've owned 5 para's. all were sticky for a while. give it time. since it's a compression lock and not a frame lock. the stick does not bother me at all.

My PM2 was a bit sticky out of the box but not bothersome. It has since worked itself out.
