I've had my PM2 for about 4-5 months now, and it's been great flipping until one day I was cleaning out the liners with a q tip, and after that the knife was kind of hard to flip open, its like it was rubbing against something. I then marked the tang up a bit with a pencil, and it got even worse after that.

(It's not bad quality graphite either, it's a faber castell 2b)

Now i'm at wits end, because its impossible to flip open. I even loosened the pivot screw all the way, and it still wouldnt come out properly.

However, it's super loose when i disengage the lock, but when the lock is engaged it rubs against the tang, and I think that's whats causing it.

Should I clean it out, lube it?

Sometimes a piece of cotton from the q tip might get caught in the sharp edges inside and jam things up. You might try some compressed air to blow it out. I believe Spyderco uses locktite on some of the screws, best thing to do is probably send it back to the Spyderco factory, their customer service is outstanding.

Loosen everything up and flush that baby with hot water and soap. Shake and wipe it dry. Add a single drop of light lube to both sides of the pivot. Tighten everything up to where you like it. Unless its is a busted detent.
If you cannot fix it and want to avoid sending it in for a few weeks, I will happily fix it for you same day it arrives. And have it back to you the same day.
But I am sure you will get it,

I loosened up the pivot then flushed with warm water and soap, and it seems to be good. My culprit is for sure the q tip being caught between the liner and the knife, as that happened again, and I used compressed air to blast it out. thanks!
