I just got the Blurple S110V version in the mail today and it was crazy smooth out of the box. I switches the pocket clip so it would be tip up. I set the knife down for fifteen minutes to eat lunch and when I picked it up it was very stiff to open.

It was like I had a different knife than the one I had just gotten in the mail. I switched the clip back just to see if it was somehow the clip that caused the sudden stiffness, but no it's just gonna be stiff now I guess.

So does anyone have any idea what the hell is going on here? Thanks for listening.

Was there any thread lock on the clip screws? Maybe some got down in there when you removed them. Other than that, give it a good cleaning and then a drop of oil.

I would just keep using it for a few weeks to see if it smooths out rather than tinkering with it.

I put the pocket clip back to tip down and tightened the screws and now the knife is perfectly smooth again. It makes no sense I've been collecting for years and this is just bizarre!

Hopefully someone from Spyderco will chime in so I don't have to go through the painstaking process of trying to find the right email address...

I bet that one of the screws is long enough to push past the steel liner and contact the blade tang. Look through the handle and see if you can see the tips of the screws inside the handle.

Sounds like one the lock side liner is warped and the pocket clip on the tip down side is flattening the liner to the G-10. When you move it to the tip up side the liner is moving away from the G-10 and somewhat pinched the blade making it stiff. That would be my educated guess.

The middle screw does stick out ever so slightly.

It's also stiff when I remove the clip completely.

Sounds like the liner is your problem the clip screws are pulling your liner straight at the pivot end. If they aren't there you are going to have clearance issues.

I don't know what the issue is, but I'm pretty discusted and I'm really not sure what to do here.

Return it asap. Either to the retailer or contact spyderco. Dont take it apart. There is clearly a defect. If the retailer cant or wont take it back Im sure spyderco will take care of it. Defects happen.

I couldn't take this thing apart if my life depended on it I can't deal with Spyderco's double sided screws. I might just return it to Spyderco or just live with it being tip down I don't know yet.

I am willing to bet that the dealer would exchange it and cover shipping

Call them first bro. Explain the issue and they WILL tighten you up.

I agree however Knifeworks is out of stock right now.

Hi BenLong1018,
We're sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing. The best thing would be to send it into our W&R department and let us take a look at it. All the info you need is here, https://www.spyderco.com/edge-u-cation/index.php?item=10. We can't determine anything until we have your knife in-hand for review, but our W&R team will be happy to help you.

Hi Ben,
We received your knife, but other than your first name there wasn't any contact information included with it. It's ready to be shipped home. Could you please e-mail our W&R crew at customerservice@spyderco.com with your info and they'll get it sent out? It has been repaired and you should be good to go!

Thanks much!

Kristi
