Paramilitary 2 Rust?

So I loved the para 2 so much I couldn't live with out it. I wanted to see if it would rust so I kept it on my person, in my bathing suit, while I worked as an ocean lifeguard. The weirdest thing happened, no rust anywhere...... except the stop pin. The stop pin was sooooooo rusted it was nuts, but that was all. Any ideas on this weird rust spot?

i left my para2 S30V clipped in my waist band when i went to the beach a few weeks ago, same thing happened to me. i took one side of the knife handle off and used some metal polish to clean the stop pin. i also had to clean the bronze washers.

the stop pin isn't made out of a highly corrosion resistant steel.
