I know this issue has been discussed thoroughly, but I can't seem to fix mine

My black/black para 2 started off fine but over a weeks time has developed a sticky lock

I've tried to lubing the contact point of the lock but that didnt help

I've tried rotating the stop pin MANY times and to no avail. Sometimes it would work perfectly but after setting my Para2 down for a while or over night, the next time I go to play with it the sticky lock comes back.

Anybody have any other suggestions on how to remedy this besides sending it to Spyderco?

It wasn't sticky when new but now it is?Have you tried to wash it out?It may be gummed up lube.

Well I have already washed it out, that doesnt seem to be the problem

And by sticky I mean when disengaging the lock you pushhhhh on the compression lock then after a good deal of force it pops off of what ever its hung up on then disengages normally

I am aware of what you mean.Have you carried/used it much?It may need more time to wear especially due to the DLC.

I had this happen with a Para 1 I used to have. WOuld leave nice indents on my index finger. It's normally a common problem for titanium locks, but some stainless locks seem to get sticky as well. The popular trick is to use a pencil or sharpie to mark over the contact area between the tang and lock surface. I personally prefer the pencil because it's less noticeable, and they both will only last a few closings before needing to be reapplied anyway. I find that after a while of using the pencil on the tang, it'll stay smooth - usually until it gets washed out. It'll stay smooth when the lock eventually wears in. Lube definitely doesn't work as a substitue in my experience.

When you say it will be fine, then after sitting it is sticky again - that validates my first theory after I read that you oil the knife.

With all of my coated PM2's, if ANY oil gets on the blade tang, the lock is instantly sticky. To remedy the sticky lock you will have to continually wipe the tang of the knife off with a Q-tip. It may take a week of doing this but eventually no more oil will appear, given you don't apply any more. After the tang is dry, color on it with a pencil (graphite) and boom, sticky lock is gone.

I have a feeling that since the DLC coating is so hard it sometimes acts like steel on Ti. The Ti is softer than the steel, so any oil introduced into the mating surfaces makes the lock gall and stick. Since the DLC is MUCH harder than the steel lock face, I suspect the same thing is happening. Both of my coated blades had this problem and were remedied by the process outlined above. :)
