Just picked up an all black para 2 from my local gun show. It is awesome! Now I've been fiddling with the pocket clip orientation and have no idea how I want to carry it.

I've heard on various reviews and videos that tip down is pretty popular.

How do yall carry your paramilitary 2 and why?

If you think it's going to be the folder for you then you can go either but if you are going to carry a few different ones tip up is easiest to keep them all the same - more tip up only folders on the market than vice versa.

When I had the Paramilitary it was only tip down and I just did the spydie-drop to open it - it puts you in a scalpel type pinch grip good for fine work or a quick slice on a bag, tape, etc. then throw it right back in pocket.

You can also just pull it out regular and it rotates into your palm to then use the thumb stud or just do a kinetic/inertia opening.

Besides having a similar set up with other folders the other advantages to tip up is if you want to play around with a wave mod or if you are carrying it for back-up protection easiest/fastest way of going straight to a reverse grip.

I carry mine Tip up. The pocket clip seems to fit my hand better when it's in that position.

Why don't you try carrying it tip-up for a week, then switch it to tip-down for a week. You'll be able to decide for yourself which one suits you better.

Its really whatever you like. I usually prefer tip down. It's faster for me since I got use to it and it keeps pocket lint away from the pivot.

I usually carry all my knives tip up. Just feels more natural to me when drawing the knife and deploying it. Also, I find gripping the knife (especially my Para 2) is more comfortable with the clip in the tip up position. As everyone else has said, its really just personal preference.

I prefer tip up on knives. For one reason only - it is how the clip feels in hand while using the knife. It is sort of less in the way when it is on the end of the handle, instead of next to the blade. That is all. Do not see any difference for drawing or putting it back.

I prefer tip up. The clip feels better on the heal of my hand when using, most of my other knives are tip up, and it feels safer since the blade is compressed against the pocket seam on my right side. That being said, I can pull the knife out by the hole and quickly deploy it with a quick wrist flick when carrying tip down.

Same reason as Poez.

It feels better in the hand when the clip is positioned for tip up. This is also the case with my Hinderer XM-18. Felt awful in hand with the clip in tip down position. I changed it and the knife feels completely different and very comfortable.

I don't care about knife drawing speed at all.

+1 on that, Ive had tip down on most of mine, but tip up does seem to gum it up a bit faster. Just my 2 cents.

I normally carry tip up but the para2 is longer than my previous knives and my thumb doesnt reach the thumb hole (while bent in preparation to flick the blade open) when I draw the knife.

So far I've found...

Tip-up: better feel in hand when gripping, better ride in pocket

Tip-down: faster deployment (when I draw the knife I pinch right around the pivot area and then let the knife swing down into my palm to flick the blade open).

I mostly carry mine IWB so tip down works best for me. I don't clip anything to my pocket except my mini-CQC15 so I can use the wave. Everything else rides down in my RFP or IWB.
