What do you guys think of your Spyderco Paramilitary 2s? I'm thinking of getting one and need opinions.

I dont have any first hand experience with this knife but I haven't heard a negative thing about it and it has been recommended to me several times.

Might be one of my next pick ups.

The paramilitary2 is an absolutely great knife. I put one in my pocket about a month ago, and it hasn't come out since. I cannot recommend this knife enough. Get it.

It is a great knife. You cant go wrong. Personally I like the Manix 2 better (due to Axis Lock and blade) and really like the Sage in carbon fiber. The Sage is one hell of a sweet EDC, lighter and more ergonomic. However it is Apples and Apples. IMO you must own all three.

P2 is a great knife. I've been carrying mine everyday when I'm not at work. I used it to clean 5 squirrels a few weeks ago. It was still sharp afterwards, but did roll in a few spots where it cut through the bones. The edge was still very sharp and usable. The rolled spots sharpened out easily. I don't see anything kicking it out of my pocket anytime soon. I liked it so much I bought a spare and a CF version also. I'll probably end up selling the spare, but not the other two. It's my favorite out of the recent Spyderco's I've bought-CF Stretch, Xhp-manix, para1, and the ril m4 mili.

I picked one up in a trade and I like it a lot. It was my dedicated work knife for about two months and it was used for all types of tasks on a construction site. It held up to everything that was tossed at it. All it ever needed was a few swipes on some strops and it was good as new.

The Para 2 is an absolutely fantastic knife and it's my current primary carry knife.

I'm digging mine so far. It's my current EDC and so far it has no shortcomings in the EDC arena, so I don't see myself changing anytime soon. It's sized well, has a good lock, lightweight, and it is well refined. If you like the knife, it's worth getting.

It's been a pocket hog since the day I got it. Get one and you won't regret it!

I'm unfamiliar with compression locks -- how easy is this to work?

Fun to play with?

How about the black model -- how well does the DLC coating hold up?

They work fine. On some knives, the compression lock is very tight initially and needs to be broken it.

Don't won any DLC coated knives so I can't comment on them.

The Para 2 is an absolutely fantastic knife and it's my current primary carry knife.

I'll second that.
Probably my all time favorite knife, well, maybe tied with my Sage 1.
It's really a do all knife.

Do it. Haven't carried anything else since I got mine. My lock was very tough to disengage at first, but has gotten much better.

I FINALLY got mine just a couple of hours ago. First impressions are very favorable.

My Paramilitary has been my primary EDC for the last few years. Here are a few things I like more about the P2 already.

1) The handle ergos are better than the original. This is pretty big because, the thing I didn't think I would like about the original Para was it's handle. However, it is what made the knife handle so well. The P2 feels better yet.

2) I'm really liking the slightly larger blade. This is what attracted me to the P2 in the first place. The Military is a little too big. The Para is a little too small. The P2 feels just right. Sounds like a children's story.... It's also incredibly sharp. It scared my original Para back into my safe.

3) Not sure if they improved the compression lock or not, but my P2 sure seems to lock up tighter and very audible.

4) The slabs are slightly more aggressive and allow for a better grip.

Not much else to say right now, but I've only had it for about 2 hrs! It's moved right up into my primary EDC so it will get used quickly. There does not appear to be anything not to like about this new version from Spyderco.

Excellent job guys!

I don't have a Para 2, but I had an original Para and it was fantastic, other than some F&F issues (no doubt fixed these days). I can't wait to try a Para 2.
