So i got my third PM2 and Its lovely. But the pivot does not get tight enough.

So even when I crank down on the screws, the blade is still so loose.

So do I counter sink the g10 screw holes more?

can I fix this with sanding the g10 screw holes to make them go deeper?

How can I fix this?

When you 'crank' down on the pivot screw, does it actually move? I remember reading other members here mentioning the use of red loctite... and I think it was Spyderco they were complaining about. I suppose the other answer is that the 'screw' is bottoming out in the 'post'. Never seen a pivot screw you couldn't get too tight. I would not modify the knife. If you really can't get the blade play worked out, I would return the knife to Spyderco under warranty.

Good point. First question, are you able to loosen the pivot screws; both of them?

yes, I managed to unscrew all the screws on the PM2, and replace them with screws from spyderco

I've had this happen. Spyderco uses a pivot with steps on the edges, to act sort of like the chris reeve pivot bushing. If the pivot wont tighten enough with the screws all the way tight, you can take out the pivot and lightly sand the flat portion where the screw screws in. It will probably take a few tries to get it perfect. Probably will void your warranty though.

With the pm2, the center bushing is what determines how tight you can get it. Changing washer thickness won't do anything as the bushing sits in between them. The only way you could get it to be tighter would be to sand (or preferably surface grind) the bushing a bit thinner. Or you could send it into spyderco and I'm sure they could figure it out for you.

ive sent this knife to spyderco 2 times from toronto...

Ive changed the bushing with a yojimbo 2 bushing. I think im gunna give up on this knife.

Have you played with the stop pin screw tension? If no, I'd bet you got the pivot to the sweet spot, but your stop pin is throwing it all off.

I agree...I've read where some people have had success when adjusting the stop pin.

I have two PM2 knives that needed a slight adjustment of stop pin screws to fine tune blade operation.
