Last night, I removed the black finish on my Para's clip and made it a satin finish to match the blade and the rest of the hardware.

In about one hour, the knife's appearance went from a $100 production knife to a $200 custom knife. :)

Has anyone else done this?

Sorry no pics. :o

I did the same on my para and I agree, the para has a very stylish clip that when black, you hardly notice but once you remove the black coating (on edc knives it usually get scratched too soon anyway) the knife get a very unique elegant look.

I was surprised at how it made the knife look more expensive. I wasn't expecting that.

Also, the sanding removed the rough edges of the clip.

What is the method you used to accomplish the de-finishing? Is it something that a dude with very few tools and no "knife workshop" would be able to do?

I'm exactly that "dude" you described. All I did was take the clip off and hand sand it (in one direction) with a FINE sanding pad that you can purchase at any hardward store. In some places, the black was a little stubborn, but for the most part it was a piece of cake - and that's coming from a guy who is still trying to master the toaster oven. :D

Good idea!

If I carry a knife a lot and it has a coated clip, I usually sandblast it. The nice gray color doesn't show scratches. On some, I have made a new titanium clip (sandblast) and saved the factory one. I am too lazy to do the hand finishing work.
