I just can't get this thing properly sharp. It is driving me crazy, having spent a couple hours working on the edge only to find it unable to catch and slice a piece of paper. I thought CPM-M4 was tough to sharpen but it pales in comparison. I've owned this Paramilitary for over a year and it doesn't get used for fine work, rather for brute work because it is so tough. Does anyone have experience with CTS 20-CP?

What are you using to sharpen it? I have one and i use an edge pro to get it sharp

I was unable to get mine sharpened right either. I was using DMT stones with the Aligner. I finally gave up and sent it to richard j. Should have it back later this week.

With super steels I find its essential to touch them up regularly rather than wait for them to get blunt. I invested in a DMT duosharp benchstone for this grade of steel. Otherwise I just send em to Ankerson. :D

Even on the Edge Pro (using the standard 120 grit Si Carbide stone), it took me more than an hour to reprofile the 20CP PM2 to +-12 degrees per side.

Now its relatively painless to maintain a 30 deg incl micro bevel on the Sharpmarker.

I would not attempt to reprofile any steel (other than maybe SE H1) with the Sharpmaker!

What were you using?

My only limited experience is with the Sharpmaker, with just touch-up work. My gray CTS-20CP PM2 takes about twice as long to touch up as my blue M390 version. That's my subjective observation, not scientific proof.

I am a "clown sharpener" no matter how much I practice the result is BAD...always...always... , pretty much stuck with vg10 and "below" hehehehe
"Thx to Sal" I got the sharpmaker, an awesome product.
