In short, why is it so rough to open? Nitrolon washers? No washers? My EKI was kind of like this but not quite so much. Why no smoothness? Its pretty cool though, just some of my first thoughts. :p

Mine and my sons are smooth and have just a bit of resistance initially due to the detent to hold the blade closed. Try loosening up the pivot screw just a bit and it will probably be fine.

Yeah I did that. It helped some. Its not that its hard to open it just makes a KSWWWWWS kinda like cardboard rubbing together. I was just wondering if it had washers or if it had nitrolon ones like in my CQC-7 they took quite a while to break in but now it is very smooth. It sure looks tight in there between the G-10--I suspect no washers.

I think this knife is going to grow on me. I LOVE the delica and like the ergos of the Calypso Jr. and this knife is like a Super-delica with calypso type feel. When I first got it out of the box (especially when I opened it ) I was like uhhh... Not smooth, handle way bigger than blade, a bit ugly. But as always form follows function and the more I handle it the more Im starting to like it. And S30V to boot... My first cant kill me steel :D Well see if it sticks around or not. I really want an EKI green handle A-blade CQC-7, but this one is pretty cool.

Oh by the way ...the compression lock=Genius. :)

Anybody else have one that was kinda chalky to open? Do they have washers?? SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL......... :p

I have one that is smooth as silk when it opens. I have another that is gritty. The gritty one also exhibits some vertical blade play, really minor, and the compression lock on it goes out about half way when it locks. The smooth one has no blade play at all, but the lock barely moves out from the liner when it locks.

They do have washers. We're thinking to increase the thickness of the washers.

Thanx for the input.

If it is really a problem and doesn't seem to be smoothing out, contact us. We can add a washer.

Your "gritty" one acts exactly like my example. It too is a bit gritty and the
lock tab goes about halfway accross the tang. If I grab the hole and pull (not hard) there is just the slightest bit of vertical movement. If I give the locking tab a bit of a push in the engagement direction, the vertical play (no surprise) goes away completely. That all said, in practice the knife is fine and I enjoy carrying and using it.

Couple drops of oil helped alot. It was dry as a bone in there.

So could we all agree that this knife is not supposed to feel like a benchmade with bronze phosphor washers and mil-tec. Im okay if its a bit scratchy, so was my EKI but its plenty smooth now, just want to make sure this is normal.

I have a Gunting that's missing a washer on one side.

They are incredibly thin teflon-looking washers... about as thin and transparent as wax paper.

While the thin washers seem to reduce blade play, I dont like how quickly they seem to wear and possibly tear?

My paramillie was rough for about 3 or 4 days before becoming smoother than liquid butter.
