Just added a new one to my stable. A fully serrated Paramilitary that ius numbered in the 70's or 80's. What does the numbering mean, actually? Is that first run or something more special like special steel or something? I haven't owned a knife with serrations in forever, and I'm anxious to finally get my hands on the compression lock, which I haven't experienced yet. Can't wait!

You'll love the full, flat grind! Slices like there's no tomorrow.

Chiro75,
The numbering 0-200 are for collectors. It's most likely a variation that the collector didn't want and the dealer can sell. I'd say that most collector numbered knives would be the initial version. The initial blades of the para had a 'blackened' notch at the intergral choil with the handle. I believe this is where the compression lock engages. There aren't too many of these. The later ones you have to look under the handle to see the notch.
Hopefully you'll love this model. I had one modified as a 'scoutmaster' knife and most weekends I'm carrying my "initial version" PE. I've found that the handle fits my hand perfectly. I'm waiting to see if I can acquire more colored G10 to make more variations for myself. I was maybe even thinking of a 'dodo' Blue G10 Paramilitary for my son when/if he makes eagle scout. He already has a Blue G10 Native when he reached First Class scout.
Good luck with yours.
Chris

You should like your new Paramilitary. They are awesome cutters and very good size for most any chore...Ed.

I have a full size Military and it's always been great. I'm excited about the fully serrated. Should be fun!

Chris: Have you been making your own handles for these? What's the inside of the scales look like? If there are any channels or recesses in the handles you either need a milling machine or a lot of patience (I have neither). If they're completely flat inside, which I doubt they are, I'll be making a carbon fiber set of handles for myself when I get this!

Chiro75,
Not me on the custom work. I've used Chase Axinn (woodchuc over at USN) He's customized 2 for me. Here's a link to his pictures of my custom para http://www.chaxknives.com/index_files/Page5843.htm . It definitely is recessed (He actually left my name inside one of the liner cutouts). He actually seems to do more CF than the others. You could always give him a call. A custom CF paramilitary may be nice
