Paramilitary salt vs regular scales

Anyone that has owned both, do the paramilitary salt machined g10 handles feel more premium than the basic peel ply g10 ones? I never really loved the basic ones as much as some people on here do, but was curious how the salt ones feel?

My PM2 Salt is my first PM2, so I can’t compare to the regular. I love the scales. I think they have great grip and they’re really comfortable. I typically buy custom scales, but I’m leaving these on.

I used mine for a few weeks before adding AWT scales. The grip is awesome and the texture looks good on the black version. The pattern does grab your pocket more than the stock peel-ply…I’d put it the middle of regular Spyderco G10 and Cold Steel pants shredders.

Additionally the clip placement on the milling is bad so they're a downgrade overall IMO
Such as it snags badly on the way out?

Haha I've never trashed a pair of pants so fast than I did with a cold steel knife I had to so some sanding under that clip ASAP.

Yeah it does. On top of that the flat spot isn't placed evenly from tip up and tip down (but neither relieves the problem). No aftermarket clip I've found hits the spot either, but as DA170 DA170 posted the long mxg in tip down (only) is the best option (but still snags some).

I have that PM2 salt and I have had other PM2s over the years. I think the salt is a perfect knife!
I'd say its a little more grippy than standard G10 grips, no problems coming out of the pocket.

I have quite a few PM 2's and I really like the feel of the PM 2 Salt scales with the grooves. Gives a great grip on the knife and I used it for cleaning several large fish and it never slipped out of my hand. Definitely a premium scale!

Shame about the clip not hitting the flat spot. I have that problem on my Police, tip up. Completely ridiculous for Spyderco to make that mistake. Pants aren't $20 anymore.

Sal on Spyderco's own forum said he'd look into it. Apparently there are a number of recent models where this is an issue. Hopefully it's addressed soon...and before the Millie and Manix Salts come out with the same pattern.

Simple solution would be to sell a longer clip. I would prefer the flat spot be corrected as I don't care for extra long clips. First world problems.

ease of coming out of pocket isn't always a good thing-- PM2 salt handle texture/milling is my favorite....horses for courses kind of thing

I can’t speak for the PM2, but the Caribbean machined scales feel 17% more premiumer than non machined Golden G10 scales and 34% more premiumer than Chinese Spyderco G10 scales. Plus or minus 2% premiumness.
