Okay, great thread before on Paramilitary versus 710. Now, how about Paramilitary versus 721 Pardue? I think it's a more appropriate comparison, since the blade size and weight of these knives are almost identical.

Artfully Martial? Any thoughts in particular...

That would be a hard one to call.

The Para has better blade steel and cuts better .
The 721 in my experience would have better fit and finish, the axis lock which I like better than the compression,is a little thinner in the pocket and seems a lot better value for the money when you look at what it takes to build both of the folders. The 721 also has a better blade to handle size ratio if you care about that at all.The difference in edge holding between the S30V and 154Cm is not enough to worry about.

Is the reason why the Paramilitary cuts better due to the negative rake or the blade shape? I would have thought that the 721's bowie shape makes it a pretty good cutter, but my experience is in line with your observation that the Para cuts much better. I also like the thicker steel. But the 721 is so well engineered, it's a hard call for me.

But I think the Para is a 5/32" blade, versus .115" for the 721...

My experience has also been that the Para is better for piercing also. Are bowie shaped blades generally good for piercing, or are they pretty much best used for slicing? I've found that the 721's blade is too short to take advantage of the bowie shape. That shape is better for a medium to large fixed blade, IMO.
