For years, even after a BF and JD member loaned me his to carry for a while, I have not held any love for the Paramilitary. Perfect knife, just the right size for EDC (Military is a little too big to carry in anything other than a coat pocket for me). I traded into one today, and it has really grown on me after carrying it. The compression lock is not hard to operate. I would still like to see a Paramilitary with a liner lock, even lock back, but I can't believe that that preference has kept me away from owning a great knife.

Yes it is an awesome knife. I just sold one to pay for something else, and I really miss it:(.

Yep, I really like the para 2. I wasn't really attracted to the para until I got a second from the SFO sale. Then I was a convert. When the para 2 came out, I was again not attracted because of my experience with blade play on the bushing pivot of the manix 2. All the raves got me curious however since I already liked the PM1. So I got one and soon after, two more followed.

I love it. I've used my CP-20 para2 to skin two deer this year and it's done a great job. I have a pretty refined edge on it, and so far it hasn't gapped a hide. Run hot water over it and it's ready to go again. As for the lock, it's my favorite by far. I like the way the gray scales show use. Glad I bought a back up, but I don't think I'll need it for a while since all I generally have to do is strop it after heavy use. I've had a few nicer knives Xm-18, umnumzaan, sebenza, sng, smf's, but the p2 with that bladesteel and lock is perfect for what I want in a woods or afterwork folder.

I've got to agree with you about the lock on the para. I own one and I''d feel a little more love if it had a liner lock or lock back.

I agree with everyone, the para is the way to go. The para2 is easily my favorite knife; had it for a few months now and it is going strong.

I'm on my 4th Para and while I have enjoyed lockbacks on other Spydies I can't imagine it on a Para. Added weight, no open construction would really change the knife. I think it takes more than just the "shape" to maintain its tried and true identity. The compression lock is also known as one the industry's finest.

I really do like my Para2. It is one of the very few non-CRKs that I use. The compression lock works great and contributes to why the knife works so well. In the first month I did develop a little side-to-side play but it has not become worse.

I used to complain about the Para not being a liner lock b/c I was so used to the Military. After selling a P1 and getting a P2 and getting used to the compression lock, it's just as easy to use. The P2 is a huge step in ergos over the P1.

I operate the compression lock the same way I do back locks: I use my thumb to let the blade down on my index finger, and then I turn the knife over and shut the knife with my thumb. Simple enough.

The old Para is probably still my favourite big old tough folder. I like the Para2 plentily, but there is something grunty and magnificent about the old Para

I picked up a black bladed Para 1 today at the gun show and I didn't even notice it until I was leaving.....I had originally wanted another Para 2 but just picked this one up in a rush. A few years ago, I owned a Para 1 but wasn't too fond of it for some reason so I had traded it off but after handling and carrying this one today, I'm definitely hooked. Now, the Para 2 has great ergos for me as well, but I really love how the original Para really locks in place in my hand.....it will definitely be put into EDC rotation.

I should have given some more attention, and carry time to the Para 1, before hastily trading it off in the first place....:o

Yay. I got another one to replace the one I had to sell.

Its perfect like the first one:thumbup: This is one awesome knife.

Well, I found the box, and it says plainly Paramilitary 2. I was going to add it to my trade pile for the upcoming Chesapeake knife show, but I like it too much, had to put it back in the rotation. It's kicked my Manix 2 out.
